Financial Aid and Fee Payment for Summer Semester
If your 2013-2014 financial aid application file is not completed by April 1, 2014, you may not be awarded in time for the fee deadline of June 16, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. Plan to pay your tuition and fees on your own. You will receive any financial aid that you are eligible for at a later date as reimbursement.
Summer 2014 Financial Aid
The Office of Financial Aid will begin posting summer semester 2014 financial aid awards to students account on June 18, 2014. If you have been approved to receive financial aid, check your PAWS account to view your financial aid award. Make sure your anticipated financial aid award covers all tuition and fee charges. Graduate students must be enrolled in 4.5 hours, and Law and Undergraduate students must be enrolled in 6 hours at the time of disbursement in order to receive a student loan.
The Office of Student Accounts will begin processing summer semester refunds the week of June 16. If your financial aid award is greater than the total cost of your tuition and fees, you will be refunded the excess amount. For those students who have set up direct deposit, please check with your bank for the availability of your funds no earlier than June 23, 2014. If you have not set up direct deposit, a check will be mailed to the mailing address you have entered in PAWS under Personal Information. To avoid delays in receiving your refund, we encourage you to sign up for direct deposit. To sign up for direct deposit, simply log on to PAWS, go to the Student Accounts Menu and select Enroll\Change Direct Deposit.
Bookstore Financial Aid Advance Amount
As a service to eligible financial aid recipients, Georgia State University offers students the opportunity to use financial aid funds as an advancement to purchase books and supplies from the Georgia State University Bookstore only. (Note: the advancement is deducted from the financial aid award along with tuition and fee charges).
To access the bookstore advancement, a student is issued an account in the Georgia State University Campus Book Store. The bookstore advancement is an early refund of financial aid funds (e.g. the Pell grant or a Stafford loan). YOUR BOOKSTORE ADVANCEMENT IS DEDUCTED FROM YOUR GRANTS AND LOANS. IT IS NOT A SEPARATE OR ADDITIONAL TYPE OF FINANCIAL AID.
Your financial aid bookstore advancement will be available for purchasing books and supplies beginning May 5, 2014, through June 14, 2014 inside the bookstore as well as via the University Bookstore website. You can make purchases with your financial aid advancement at www.gsu.bkstr.com. If you choose not to make purchases at the bookstore, the amount will be available as part of your refund.
