Match Consumer Complaints or Complaint about their

Match_Consumer_Complaints

If you think you have canceled your subscription within the 3-day grace period (in some states) that allows for a full refund, think again. I did so by phone, and had the courtesy to email several women who had contacted me that I had done so. I never accessed the site again, but was denied a full refund. Apparently Match.com is set up in such a way that one can still email even though s/he has officially cancelled their subscription. Not fair, to be kind. Never again.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

A shuda complaint. I shuda read this site before hooking up with any lovelorn fortune tellers. Wanta sign with a group that only leads you to sites from which you cannot possibly escape, while you are subtlely and not so subtley teased and insulted? Try Yahoo Singles. Now I am in the clutches of Match getting no answer from Help. The U.S. gov. used to have a customers-been-robbed department.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I was to marry a man that I met on Match.com who, unfortunately turned out to be a full blown sociopath who has spent his life scamming people out of money. I absolutely do not hold Match.com responsible for that nightmare, as we all sign up of our own free will. I did write a letter to Match.com telling them of the circumstances and asking if here were any way they could block this man from joining in the future, as this man is a danger to anyone he would come in contact with through their site. I am very sad to say that they never responded to my letter. Please be careful with anyone you may become involved with on any dating site. There are many professionals out there.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I subscribed, then you lost me for three weeks, and I finally had to rejoin I only have ONE choice of women to look at, why? I submitted a new photo, and it has not yet been changed. Earlier, I had a choice of nine women to study, until I found out that you guys told me I was not a member, I had given credit card numbers, but they never did file the ccharges, so nothing appeared on my bills from the credit card co. That was when I called and was told they never heard of me, but I was on your service all that time, but could not write an e-mail, and all of my profile had gone away somewhere. Wos. Please fix photo changes and give me some choices. uffdas

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I'm a single good looking woman with a postgraduate degree and no children. Match canceled my subscription for reporting a member who made me concerned for my safety. I've written them many times and they won't respond. I had paid for 6 months and they only canceled me after 3 weeks. I can't believe that Dr. Phil would promote such a site that has no concern for their members!!!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

to: I'm a 44 year old post graduate degreed female that is in great shape. There is a match.com rule among the males: after date 3, you're in the sack, if not, hit the road. I'm disgusted with the internet dating game. There's always someone better and a click away. Don't go with Match! Guys call it snatch.com!!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Match.com was showing me each month of my 6 month membership my progress towards a free 6 months if I didn't find anyone- well I didn't and the cancelled my subscription! When I contacted them they said I didn't have that kind of agreement with them. If it was worth hiring a lawyer I would but it would cost more than the fee to resubscribe. I can't believe they get away with this.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

My complaint would take up way too much room to go into it all. I will give you the brief...their customer service department is awful. I ended up having to go to court because of one of the other Match memembers who had several D.V. convictions and ended up harassing me when I told him it was over. After getting what seems to be par for the course run around and my safety becoming an issue. I contacted the CEO of the company. If you want to get your issue resolved DO NOT go through customer service. each department in Match does not seem to have a number for the next department. Cut through all the crap and just contact the office of the CEO. By contacting the CEO or the office of the CEO things seem to change drastically. All else fails contact Mark Swindale who works in the CEO's office and keep calling till the issue is resolved!!!! Mark Swindale-214.576.9384 (direct line)

Match_Consumer_Complaints

It seems pretty obvious - many of the people out here are just plants by match.com to get people to sign up. It's been in a local paper that match has their employees pictured on the sight (no doubt the attractive ones) trying to get people to join.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Men to women ratio on Match or Yahoo is right around 100 to 1. Don't waste your time, guys. By the time a woman has been a member a week, she's no longer even reading e-mails. I sent 45 e-mails to girls on match.com and another 15 to girls on yahoo. I have a nice profile, nice picture, I'm in shape, intelligent, and I had FIVE of these girls even LOOKED at my profile. None wrote back. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. THE GIRLS ARE STUCK UP, JADED, AND WON'T RESPOND TO E-MAILS.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I refuse to pay the costly membership fees for your website. You give me a so-called free trial, but I cannot send any e-mails. I have sent numerous winks, but how do I know that they actually were received? You constantly throw my matches in my face just teasing, but I cannot and will not pay for your outrageous membership fees. Dr. Phil makes more money than any of us put together, and I see nothing but greed.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I subscribed to match.com for their 3 day membership deal on Sunday 29 Apr 2007. I found out that I could not send emails to members. Thinking that this was a marketting game to get me subscribe, I chose 3 month membership and became a full member on Monday 30 Apr 2007. But I still couldn't send emails to members. I called their Customer Care several times since. They simply told me it was not their fault and it must be my PC. I asked for the Technical Department's phone number so they can walk me thru the process of changing settings on my PC if that is really the problem. But they do not give out their Tech Dept number. They told me they filled out a complaint or problem form and send it to the Tech Dept and Tech Dept would respond to me within 24 to 72 hrs. That was on Wednesday. On Thursday I also send a message to the Tech Dept explaining my problem. Yesterday, Friday, May 4, I received a standard message from Customer Service. They tell me to read their FAQs. I had already read them several times looking for an answer to my problem to no avail. Here it is Saturday morn, it has been 7 days and I still can't send one damn email. I have dozens of members emailing me, winking at me and I can;t respond. This is very frustrating. I can't get any help from your Customers Service and no response at all, no calls, no emails, from your Tecnical Department. I tried signing in from other computers and got the same problem. I SIMPLY ASK THEM FOR HELP SO I CAN SEND EMAILS TO MEMBERS! After all they have already been paid and you don't even bother to have their Tech Dept fix this problem or call me and tell me what I need to do. I can go into any site and send emails within other dating services. I have already turned off my ZoneAlarm and brought down my Internet Security to LOW. What else do I need to do? How do I get action from these people? Do write to their CEO? Does anyone heve his email addy or phone number?

Match_Consumer_Complaints

i know longer want to be part of match.com. please delete me of the system

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Match.com has not honored their 6 month Make Love Happen Guarantee. I was a member for 6 months, met all the requirements, called and emailed customer service, issue still not resolved.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I signed up and paid for 3 months. Before the expiry I have cancelled and went through the procedure online as it was indicated. Two months later I discovered a charge from Match.com on my visa card - I have never gotten a decent reply from them and my money has never been refunded. I am so disappointed and will never give out my cc number on the internet again. After having read some of the complaints here I am convinced that by getting the first payment from the visa cards they are practically stilling our money until you actually cancel it at your bank. Hence I will have to cancel my visa card and still hassle for the $50.97dollars they have stole for me against my will. There dont even offer any plan with the exact amount above... It is a total scam a very disheartening modern scam.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I also was on match.com met a man and said he lived in florida and then he was on his way to nigeria to work. I have continued to talk to him and then I found out that he was lying to me and contacted Dr. Phil about endorsing this web site and never got any respond what so ever. I have tried several times to email Dr. Phil and haven't heard a word. I don't know if this guy is scamming me, but some of the storeies sound like it may be true.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO YOUR BANK STATEMENTS! My brother-in-law signed up for match.com I think it was October of 2006. I use my check to pay for the subscription and the first payment I did authorize. However 3 months later...$50.97 was withdawn from my account WITHOUT MY PERMISSION OR MY AUTHORIZATION. At this point I was very upset, I could have had an overdraft of a returned check on my account. I called them and explaind the situation and told them he only use their service for one month (even though he paid for 3 months) and didn't go back on the site. The told me that they automatically renew the service in 3 months. I told them this charge WAS NOT AUTHORIZED and I needed a refund. She then put me on hold and said she needed to talk to her manager. My account was credited back shortly there after. I also told her to cancel the account. Well, I thought this situation was over until now April 2007. A couple days ago my brother-in law told me an email was sent to him saying thank you for re-activating your account (which he did not do) So I called them immediatly to make sure that now no money was taken from my account again without authorization. She told me that the account is showing that it was cancled. I am closing that bank account to ensure no charges will ever be made to my account. MY ADVICE: IF YOU SIGN UP FOR MATCH.COM PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO YOUR STATEMENTS!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I paid for six months..the end.. No..I was charged again for 6 months without my approval or being notified of their intent. I found the charge on my credit card online and cancelled within three days of being charged. I e mailed match.com customer service and cancelled. They said,NO refunds.I have filed a dispute with my credit card company and think it is a good idea to cancell your credit card to be sure you won't be charged again. This website is full of people continuously being charged against their wishes..without being refunded.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

This is not a story, and I assure you I am not trying to solicit another sight but rather a don't get mad, get even policy. Post on this page the idea of " Be sure your profile has a PIC that shows a billboard of <example> PlentyOfFish.com in it" or here is how to sneak in your info to one of the many truly free dating sights. 'I am an avid fisherman. I love to fish com e springtime with plenty of bait' or 'in life a collar is me favorite site on a woman.' Eventually it will work Ciao

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I signed up with Match.com for 30 days and continued to be hit by scam artists. I reported it numerous times to Match and never heard a response. I told them that it was evident that they had a criminal ring working out of Nigeria and if I did not have a response in 48 hours that I was sure a local TV station would be interested. I still never had a response from Match but the TV station producer responded to me in less than 24 hours. I had also told Match that the criminals appeared to be lifting profiles for their scam. There is the first problem. They should have technology to keep profiles from being copied and pasted. I find it sad that Dr. Phil endorses this site. Maybe someone should e-mail his show and raise a red flag.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I resigned my subscription to Match.com late Jan. 2007. Later in March I found Match was still billing my credit card. I contacted their customer service though a series of e-mails that turned out to be a run-around. Ater stating their policy didn't allow for refunds they then sent me an e-mail reguarding auto-renewal for my convenience. I restated to Match the problem was Match continued to charge my account for two months after I resigned without authorization. Match has not replied! As a side note, I've seen other sites drag their feet in discontinuing charges after cancelling membership. I have to wonder; is it accidental or are some of these dating sites intentionally defrauding their customers?

Match_Consumer_Complaints

My complaint is that after 2 weeks, and 60 e-mails sent, I have received ZERO responses. I am very attractive, fit, no kids, good job, so why if the ratio is 5 men to 1 woman am I getting Nada? All I get are winks (NEVER e-mails) from older, bald retired men, and extremely attractive men at least 2,000 miles away. Sounds fishy to me....Of course, they tell me it has to do with my spam guard. Funny, when I respond to winks, I get e-mails back. Very disillusioned.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I am writing about charges to my credit card. I signed up for a trial membership 7 days, cancelled and just noticed charges. I called the telephone number that was on my billing statement and was told they can only credit me back 4 months. I said this was not good enough and asked to speak to a supervisor and of course there was none, I asked to speak to the billing department and was told they did not have a telephone number. I would like someone to contact me at jakopacz@comcast.net. thank you

Match_Consumer_Complaints

The way it looks to me, is I'm not going to get any photos on your site! Last week, you said my photo had been accepted; today you said 3 times to re-submit; so, do I have any photos on match or not? Connie Bearden cowsrgreengold@yahoo.com/ cb2gether

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I have been a computer technologist since before the Internet and am skilled in all interactive web functions. I am also a linguist and able to determine slanted ads, ads with spin etc. Despite this I again signed up with Match despite previous bad experiences. After some days I could no longer access my account from any of my ISPs or from public computers. Despite sending a dozen emails to them requesting access, I received only boilerplate replies which were irrelevant to my complaint. I finally had to cancel my credit card and threaten legal action for Identity Theft, failure to act as an honest broker, misleading advertising and so on and do it several times before they removed my profile. (Putting FRAUD in your subject line may help get you a reply). Their tollfree number is permanently not available They have not responded to my request for a refund.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

In 2006, I signed up for six months of service and was billed $80. After about a week I was harassed by another member. I responded to him asking what was his deal and the next thing I know, Match terminated my membership and would not tell me why. I contacted them for several weeks and they would not let me access my profile. Finally I challenged it with my bank but they lied to my bank and made it look as though I was still a member by providing as proof, emails I had never written. So my bank let them keep the money. I was robbed.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I signed in for a month. I kept being charged over and over... I phone, I wrote, it was a game with them.... At one point I had to cancell my credit card to stop them from charging me!!!!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

My ex is suing me claiming I am a bad father because I am no re-married but supposedly still looking for women on match.com. although I cancelled my membership match refuses to remove my profile while making me think they did so. my ex printed out my profile although i deleted it, which i tried unsuccessfully to do again yesterday. my ex actually submitted my old profile to the court with a notice to appear, all because match wants to make it look like they have more members than they really do.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Though I am a member of Match.com I cannot gain access to the site. I need direction on this. In addition, at least 2-3 weeks ago I asked a couple of questions the most important of which was "is there a charge for emails sent? Please respond asap directly to my email box which address is in your system. thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I joined Match.com because I received 3 emails as a non member. Upon joining I checked the emails and they were fraudulant. I submitted to get my refund which I did but they will not let me join now as I took advantage of there marketing ploy after being duped to join in the first place. Lawsuit!! Please!!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

my email adress is schweigerfamily1@aol.com. please stop sending me emails im not interested in joining right now.my user name is jewel1957bug.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I joined Match.com for a 6 month period on 20 January, 2007. The amount came to a little over $100.00. I received an attack and threat from a member on 08 February, 2007. I reported this member via the required forms at Match. I did not reply to this member's attacks against me. The following day I started to receive notes from Match.com saying I had broken "rules" and my membership could be "terminated." They said I could only get the info via a subpoena. I asked for reasons and a refund, all unanswered. Yesterday, 13 February 2007, I received a letter from Match.com saying my membership was terminated due to the good of the community! I haven't done anything except ask for my money to be refunded! In order to get a subpoena in Josephine County where I live, a person has to go before the Grand Jury. The Grand Jury does not give out subpoenas for things such as this. Match refuses to address the over $100.00 they owe me, and will not say what I did wrong, which is absolutely nothing!!! I will paste their letter below: Case ID: 1036208 -----Original Message----- From: MatchET [mailto:abuse@match.com Sent: Tuesday, February 13, 2007 2:46 PM To: Contessray Subject: Match.com/Subpoena Dear Contessray, Thank you for taking the time to write us. Due to our privacy practices, Match.com cannot disclose the specifics leading to the termination of your account; though, we believe this action was in the best interest of our member community. Feb. 3, 2007 At one point, I joined Match.com - paying for a full year of membership. I got a lot of responses, but maybe three of those folks were of interest, so after my time was up, I resigned. I left my profile on-line, and would get an occasional email or wink. Match used to send you the emails, then changed their rules (without also stating it in their "policies" section) so that the only way you could even read the email was if you had paid. I tried to contact customer service to ask about this, and never got a response. So, I decided to take advantage of the "Free" 3-day membership, and take a look at my emails. Within the allotted time frame, I'd send the letter to Plano, asking to cancel the free membership. Well, evidently there's another little rule that isn't mentioned anywhere on their site - you can't do that more than once. So, I'm banned from Match (see letter below) but given what I consider to be unethical business practices, and a total lack of customer service when you have a question or problem, I'm thinking it's not much of a loss. Check out www.plentyoffish.com and urge all your friends to use them instead! And here's the email I FINALLY got from those sweet folks at Match: (and I love how they told me how to get answers to the most commonly asked questions, although if I've been kicked out, why would I care ?... yet another canned response!!) i signed up on match.com for 3 months and now i find out they keep billing another 3 months when the 1st 3 months have ended .. i got no emails saying i was billed .. to make it short they said too bad,no refunds .. when you subscribe you choose what plan you want so i choose 3 months and figured when the time is up its just finished .. they are very deceptive and fall back on no refunds, they say i had to cancel and didnt,if thats the case why have different plans .. thats fraud and im not letting it go

Match_Consumer_Complaints

something needs to be done about these people, match.com is a rip off, i'm assuming other sights are too, now that i have seen how it works,MATCH.com NEEDS TO GO DOWN! enter the sight and let everyone know it's a scam. they view your submission, so be smart about letting others know they are being ripped off!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I submitted my Visa information when a free trial period was offered and that was a mistake. I have tried to 'resign' from this organization online but am being charged CAD$71.74. I've tried to reason with them with the Customer Service dept and tried to talk to them on the phone and have been thwarted each time. They don't respond to the CS e-mail and the phone number supplied tells me--over and over again--"your request cannot be completed . . . ." This is a very successful way of charging unwilling customers and of which potential customers should be aware.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

match has a major problem on it's hands -with in 1 day of joining, I was swept into a scam - ultimately I was solicited to wire 2000+ overseas - then solicited to"help a girl that was being followed by a PI who wanted her to testify at a trial..." called Match - could not care less. searched the web for IC3 - FBI's site for web-fruad complaints - hey, what do you know - they seemed to care - a lot

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I registrated Match.com at Jan 13 because I just wanted to try 3 free trail. And Jan. 16, I found something at my bankaccount that was withdrew 175.44$ by Match.com. After that, I registrated a cancellation, immediately. And I sent email and message that I want a cancellation about Match.com, everything. And I want refund. Because I didn\'t know about the pay(subscribe). I sent email every day. But they didn\'t answer my email. And finally yesterday I got a email. But the answer was \"no refund\". I totally can\'t understand and I think that is kind of cheating because they didn\'t notify that free trial is over or you have to pay to me. I really didn\'t know about that. I\'m very angry now. And I really want refund. That money is really big money to me. I don\'t want any information of Match.com(kinds of email) and I want to remove all my information from Match.com.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

After reading all the comments I'm kicking myself for not being more careful. I signed up for one month on match.com. That one month was up today. I've just got back from the ATM machine where I discovered that I can't withdraw any cash. I checked my account online and sure enough, I've been billed by match for a second month. I didn't notice a feature called `subscription renewal`. They don't warn you about this feature and it's not broadcast loudly on your account...and of course, this `option` is not chosen by the subscriber, because it's automatically switched on. I've sent an email asking for my money back and notifying them that I signed up for ONE MONTH ONLY, but judging by the past comments it looks like I just got scammed out of $50 at a time when I really can't afford that to happen.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

After having received multiple solicitations from Match.com for a FREE 3-day trial, I clicked to their link and accepted the offer. I cancelled the subscription within 48 hours because of technical difficulties. I contacted their help desk on September 6 and was told there was nothing technically wrong, but was still unable to access their services, I just kept getting sent back to the subscription page. Yesterday, when I received my Visa bill, I called Match.com and asked that they issue a credit since I had cancelled within 48hours of my FREE 3-day trial. The customer (no) service rep insisted I had subscribed for the full 30 days and refused to issue a credit. I told her I had followed THEIR solicitation to THEIR link to the FREE 3-day trial. There were no boxes to check for the FREE 3-day trial, only other time increments, so I checked the shortest amount of time, which was 30 days. It was my impression, based on their solicitations, that I had 3 days to cancel without penalty. I also told her I was unable to access their services and that I had requested help to no avail. I asked to speak with a supervisor. The rep told me that her supervisor would only tell me the same thing: no refunds allowed. Nonetheless, I insisted on speaking to a supervisor. The next woman who got on the line -- who I suspect from her very unprofessional comportment --was NOT a supervisor. She was rude, loud and completely inappropriate. I asked to speak with her supervisor. She told me her supervisor was not available and took my name and phone number. No one has called me back yesterday nor today. II feel I am a victim of bait and switch and refuse to pay. I was under the impression, based on their solicitations, that if I cancelled within 3 days there would be no charges. I did just that. Not only was I unable to technically access their services, but I was billed for absolutely no service whatsoever. This is a fraudulent charge. I plan to file a complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs in the state of Texas, with the Better Business Bureau of Dallas, with the Federal Trade Commission and anyone else who will listen.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I was on match.com and I cancelled my membership because I had thought I met someone legit but then he turned into scam artist asking me for money! I emailed match.com to tell him of my concerns but they never responded to my complaints.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I ran into nothing at this website. All they wanted was money. So I closed my credit card and got another one, now my credit union is observing them, so they just might get into serious trouble. I ran into a friend of mine on this site, come to find out he wanted just one thing. I told him a few things and stated to never contact me again. Jerk!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

on match.com i was going to try the trial but i cancelled it then i was charged 3 months for it. then in october i was reimbursed 39.98 dollars 3 time for the money that was taken out. on december 29th match.com took 131.88 they claim they dont have me on file. they claimed that the main super visor was a male and all i got was some fake supervisor name amber they lie and stole from me i am a very sick person and cant afford to be defrauded

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I was charged 86.00 for something I did not know about. Is there anyone who can tell me what to do or how to stop these people

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I do not agree with Dr. Phil that it is so easy to find someone. I have tried for 5 years now, and I have more nightmare stories everytime. You go out with these men and when their are some problems, they are not willing to compromise. So tell Dr. Phil it is not easy to find someone. Men are just selfish and very inconsiderate. I have a book on the stories about my dating men.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I have had similar bad experiences with match.com. YOU SHOULD BE FOREWARNED. It is a highly unethical business and our only hope in that Eliot Spitzer shows up at their door someday. You will spend money on people, thinking that you will get a response, and you won't. That's because they are not real. They post fake profiles of people that don't even exist. Your best bet is to look for someone through the old tried and true methods of friends, work, and family. Their CEO, one Mr. Safka, is a liar, a cheat, and a crook. I would rather spend an hour with bin Laden than this asshole. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SEND THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER. WE NEED TO PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I signed up for six months, but was billed for a year. I didn't realize the fraud for some months later. What caught my attention was that I was billed for another year when I had tried to cancel. As with many other complaints, I was unable to reach them by phone. The number given to me to call was given to me by Mastercard Canada. I tried that number over 30 times over a 3 week period. Every time I called it said that Match.com was unable to complete my call at this time. Once I registered a formal complaint with Mastercard and sent a few emails threatening legal action, I recieved a message from Match.com indicating that they had uncovered fraudulent use of my card on their end. Mastercard has subsequently got my refund from the bogus billing and oddly enough Match.com has refunded my original amount. Steve Toronto, Canada

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I joined on a Tuesday. I cancelled on Friday using the match.com online cancellation system. I did not receive a confirmation on Friday so I tried to call but there was no phone number to call. I sent another e-mail on Saturday to verify my cancellation. Match did not acknowledge my first e-mail and then billed me for six months. I am in the process of disputing the charges.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I had signed up for match.com, I used it for a while then dropped it. When I accessed/created an account through AOL my original account was reactivated and the fee was billed from my Credit card.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I am a single mom and foolishly bought one month of match.com when they sent me multiple emails telling me that someone was trying to contact me. I selected one month only. They charged me for a second month via my debit card, and which caused my checking account to be overdrawn. I called match.com and they refused to refund me the monthly fee, even though it was the next day, and I had not used their service for the month I would be charged. I didn't ask for the refund of overdraft fees. I told them I would look into a class action lawsuit, and would report them to the BBB. Still, they kept my thirty bucks. These people are ruining the trust of consumers and online commerce. They should be penalized, or put out of business.

They continue to charge $37.30 to my credit card even though I stopped this service with in the first 14 days of subscription. I have called and talked to there customer service as as requested of me by the credit card company. There customer service had agreeded to remove the last charge at that time and RE-Cancel that service which was already canceled six months ago, but what they did do was apply a double charge to my card this month. I have had to call my credit card company and report fradulant charges to my card and to have it canceled in order to put a stop to this. Match.Com appears to be based in Dallas, Texas! I am planning to contact the District Attorney's office in Dallas, Tx and report these scammers! Match.com was a scam right from the start! There should be away to report that website as a scam site as well! Scammed By Match.Com

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Match.com BUYER BEWARE. Be aware they automatically "renew" your subscription even though you've signed up for limited 3-month subscription. They tried to tell me that they didn't have a refund policy...ask for the supervisor. Match.com is THE biggest scam on the internet.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Match.com is a master of hitting your credit card in the middle of the night, and when you question them about it, they say they have a "no refund" policy. They charge you for six months (or whatever) in advance. I tried to resign on 11/26 after getting wind of the payment, and it said fine, but you'll be able to access the site through 5/27/07 ... what sort of sense is that? I would assume some people just say, "OK, since I'm on for six months, keep me a member," then they get hit again in May. Even at that, many businesses would at least say "OK, you're not satisfied, here's a refund and thank you for your previous business." Not this bunch. To be honest, it wasn't that great a service to begin with, which is why I had even forgotten they had my credit-card number. I would advise anyone who can't afford to toss away more than $100 a year to avoid Match.com like the plague.

>> just read some complaints about >> match and all i can say is...i >> think its great!!!i have lots of >> success and for those that have >> posted that they don't >> ...well...maybe its YOU and not >> match... I agree. Nobody wants to admit that THEY might be the problem. I've had success on both Match.com and Yahoo Personals. The atrocious spelling and grammar in some of these comments is somewhat telling.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I was a paid member and when I looked at who I was being matched with, they had put on my profile I was looking for married men and seperated men. Atheist and agnostic men. Men that drank heavily and smoked. It was like everything I said I didn't want, they said I wanted! I was totally embarrassed by this error and hid my profile half way through my paid month and sent an email to them. Then I sent three more as my membership was nearing expiration. Amazingly as my membership expired I finally received an email acknowledgement of a problem. And that was it!! My money was gone, I was embarrassed and they didn't care because they had my money. DO NOT USE MATCH.COM

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I signed up for Match.com's 3 day FREE trial. The terms state you have to give your credit card number, but if you cancel within the 3 day timeframe, your card will not be charged. I cancelled on Day #2, even got a termination confirmation number, yet my credit card was still charged. I'm still fighting this. Upon emailing Match's customer service several times, none of my emails were answered. Upon calling them, my calls were "mysteriously" dropped soon after I voiced my grievance.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Is it true that Dr. Phil is the sponsor of Match.com? If he is, I would be willing to bet he doesen,t know what's going on. He would not jeopardize his business with something like match.com. I was contacted by a law firm in LA, and they are in the process of preparing a class action law suit against M.C. M<C< also charged me for three months serivice, when I explicity told them I wanted only one month. Now, how can I stop them from taking more out of my account, or charging my debit card, without paying a charge to my bank to stop payment?

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Signed up for trial 3 month membership. They continued to bill me after trial period was up. I tried to contact them but they have made that almost impossible. The service is of limited value and quality of people on match, well.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I agree with the guy complaining about big butts. The nature of match is that if you have a good-looking face, that is enough. I met a guy who was enormous also. I think most of us prefer someone who is decent overall.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Scorpiowomekitty I am not Gay. You keep sending me women. I am looking for single men around sixty. So please stop sending me women. This is upsitting me.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Meeting women on Match is like meeting women while kayaking on a river. They look fine above the waist, but most have ginormous asses. Women hate that men discriminate against women with big butts, but they would never date a short man. If I wanted to date a woman with an ass so big she has to get a run at doorways, I would ask out the girl at the drive-up window at Dairy Queen.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

match.com - been there, done that for nine months. Very simply put, the people on match are single for a reason. I met many people through match, and they all had major issues - most were taking various anti-depressants, had severe credit issues, you name it. They ALL had issues. ALL of them. My opinion? You stand a better chance meeting someone normal through the usual routes - mutual friends, etc. Good luck!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Wrong city, right zip code. I've been a subscriber to match.com for several months. My problem with match.com started about a bit over a week ago. I noticed that my profile had me listed as living in the wrong city.I told them about this, and got a canned response about going into my account settings, which I already knew. They only allow me to give my zip code, from which they generate the city. The catch is, they now generate the WRONG city from my zip code. My city only has one zip code, so I can't just use another from this city in hopes it might generate the right city in my profile. I've lived in this city 19 years, and the US Postal service confirms my zipcode. So here I am, trying to meet dates, but they all think I live in a different city than I actually do.

if you are a male and over 40 and appreciate younger attractive women[28-38 years old] this service is a nitemare. every mutual or reverse search turns up dozens of results that are in fact nigerian CON artists. after experiencing a few..by email exchanges requesting that you "chat" on yahoo messenger..you can spot the multiple profiles using the exact same "wording" different users with the same pictures, poorly written grammer..what is astounding is the sheer quantity/percentage. approx 90% of anyone that is attractive is a hustle

My complaint is more for the unwary people who people who pay out good money to message others on match.com. I was once a paid member at a time when as being one you could message a trial member and they could reply. These days however, if you are a member and message a trial member the trial member doesn't even know who the message is from and is required to become a paid member even just to view their profile. In the meantime the member who has sent the message is wondering why there has been no reply. I have read the 'Terms of Use Agreement' many times over and am unable to see where it makes the subscriber aware of this. The only reason I stay on the site is that I have been able to put my contact details in my profile without being detected and am able to make contact with those that are able to figure it out. This idea also eliminates ungenuine profiles, as you know your prolile has been read to figure out the contact clues.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I signed up for one month of match.com. Imagine my surprise when I started getting winks and emails from models who live in my rural area, and couldn't complete a complete English sentence. Sentences like, "Me be loyal to mate", and "Must be good of the intelligence. When I emailed them back, I got the "My parents died" story, and "I need money". I complained to match.com, only to get a simple "we're care about customer satisfaction" email. To their credit, most of the winks and emails from these "models" stopped. Then, I began searching for a mate, sending multiple emails and passing multiple winks, only to have the same exact problem. Maybe 1 out of 20 would answer an email or wink, and they always turned out to be those poor souls whose parents just died and need money. If you are a male, you are wasting your time and money on match.com. I cannot vouch for the females, as of course, I didn't meet any.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I was getting e-mails from an individual that was in another state telling a story that they were in Africa working and would be returing home soon. This happened to me twice. I also renewed a subsription for one month and paid for that month and then cancelled the subscription not to renew and I have been charged for another month on my credit card I am not happy with match.com I have contacted the credit card co and I will be filing a dispute, I do not want to be a member at this time. carol

Match_Consumer_Complaints

i also get about 100 hits per week and i have asked match to allow their paying members to be able to get in touch with me so that i can find out who is interested in me because afterall isn't that what their service is about? why should both parties pay.If i were the one looking to get in touch with a man than i would pay. but who has time to look thru them when so many are interested in me...

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Several years ago I tried Match.com-- and they wouldn't take my profile down eventhough I cancelled membership. I'm a former model and I always got tons of hits-- something like 33,000 in 6 month-- anyway I repeatedly asked them to take down my site-- but they wouldn't. Then all of a sudden-- I started getting email notices of guys trying to contact me. I called up to try to complain and got stuck in their endless voicemail-- then someone in North Carolina who didn't take me seriously at all and just ignored me giving me some "canned" response. Then 6 months later-- I got this charge on an inactive bank account-- from out of the blue-- for $50.97! I can't imagine how they were able to do that- I certainly didn't authorize it! So I've found a website--- laywersandsettlements.com and another law firm Arias, Ozzello and Gignac LLP about filing a class action lawsuit against them--- I've also filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office in my state. NOt only have I had problems with match.com-- but also with an ISP named Netzero.net-- for a trial-- -where they refused to cancel my trial account! All it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing!! I encourage everyone to go after these jerks!! Try a free website like www.plentyoffish.com-- they're great and they also have a wonderful blog and help for those who need it or just want to talk. Thanks. R.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I have subscibed to match off and on over the last 4 yrs. and have met some really amazing people, dated a few and developed some solid friendships, but have not yet met "the one". As you can imagine, over that period of time, I'm no longer "the freshest meat on the market". I haven't had any action for a while, therefore I let my subscription expire in September to give it a rest and did not intend to reactivate for at least 6 months or so, if at all. At the end of last week, I suddenly had a little flurry of winks and messages so I took advantage of a 3 day "free-trial". At what I believed to be the end of the 72 hours (no e-mail notice sent to remind me) I tried to cancel, but was not able to. When I called customer service I was told that as a courtesy, they would prorate a 1 month subscription and while they would not be able to refund the entire 131.88 I was charged, they would credit back $92.90. When I pressed that I would prefer a full refund I was told that policy would not permit that. I then asked to speak with a supervisor. I was connected with someone in the Jacksonville N.C. call center named Shayla. Shayla barely listened to what I had to say before she started talking right over the top of me. I stopped speaking in order to listen to her...as a courtesy. When I began again to explain my position she once more interupted me stating policy. Through sever interrupted attempts I was finally able to finish my initial thought. Shayla was soley intent on stating policy. Not one word out of her mouth was original. For less than 40 dollars she was willing to sever a business relationship with a customer of over 4 yrs. She gave me the name of the office manager of the Jackson NC call center (Corwin), but he was "in a meeting". I then called the Dallas call center. I had no better luck with the office manager, Brandon. When I asked Brandon the name of the CEO of match he didn't know. His name is Jim Safka, by the way. He lives in Dallas, has a wife named Mandy and two children. All of that information from a simple Google search, but that Brandon could not provide. I did call him back to let him know that name of his own CEO. Wouldn't want him to continue to look foolish. **said with dripping sarcasm**

I just signed up a few days ago, but I must have made a mistake because I am getting men seeking men. I am new to a computer and I must have done something wrong. I do not know how to pull down my profile to look at what I did. Could you please help me. I am signed in as kdoole111. I am a women wanting to date a man. I really am fun and nice, but have been on for four days and have no matchs. Call and let me know what I need to do. 952-942-7058 I really would like to meet a nice man. It is MY mistake not yours, but I don't know how to fix it. Thank you. Kathy Johnson

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I tried it for the first time, and the only response that I ended up getting turned out to be an internet money scam. The girl was looking genericaly for a man 30-60 and replyed to me, a 28 year old with a decent income. The spelling and punctuation did not flow and the terminology matched that of those Nigerian money scams that are going arround. After a few e-mail exchanges, I noticed that she was not paying attention to anything that I had written. Right away, her story changed and she told me she was stuck in Nigeria, of all places and needed money to get home. Screen your members better Match.com!!!!!!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I made the mistake of getting one of my guy friends to give match.com a try. In the early days I think it was alright. Now this guy is college educated, has a six pack abs, etc. I mean he is the epitome of a great catch. He just kept making bad local choices so I was hoping he would have some luck looking "outside the box" Well he got few matches, winks, etc. When he did send a wink he would either get no response or thanks but no thanks. This guy is like the all American boy and yet it was obvious most of the ads were fakes or the women not interested. I would say maybe 10% of the people on the site are honest. If you get rejected, don't take it personally because it happens to almost everyone. In fact, if you do find a match it probably means you are weird, lol.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Beware! Match.com serves up "technical difficulties" when you question why your updated profile was not approved, why they lock your profile in hidden mode while you still are a subscriber, and when you ask for a refund when THEY have malfunctioned and cannot fulfill their subscription obligations! Complaints are handled with remorse and directed attacks with "error messages" and blocking from signing in! I swear I haven't provoked them other than requesting a refund of 7 days because they have a glitch in their system they are unable or unwilling to fix! I honestly can't recommend them and am currently searching for another dating site unaffiliated with Match!!!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I am sending you herewith 4 copies of my payments, which were ACCEPTED by you at the date of receipt, for 4 of my teaching-clients as they don't have card-facilities as a lot of poor Asian women don't have! For some obscure reason your company blocked all 4 accounts without explaining, even after requests from our side. Herewith I WARN you NOT to prolongate ANY of these "memberships". I am not supposing that you will take any notice but at least you are warned.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I cannot think of being stupid but perhaps.. because of not getting any reply from your part. Luckily I found in Internet several negative reports about your organisation: in English, in German, in French, in Dutch and in Spanish so I dont think I am the stupid one. As long as you dont answer me what I or one of my 4 clients did wrong I can only disgust your ignorance and rudeness. I can assure you that I shall forward my very bad experiences wherever I can in Internet and worth to mouth. I wish you good business!

I was wondering why we have to pay the 24.95 every month on this number 800-926-2824, my husband and I were never been a member, and this amount has been charge to our credit card every month, please explain, you may reply at milletr15@hotmail.com and redpup62@hotmail.com, we hope to hear from you soon.. Thank YOU.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Match.com is a total scam! I signed up for 1 month subscription ($29.99) - and the assholes automatically renewed my account and charged my card! And I didn't even use the service. They refused to refund or credit back my account. They claim it is a "courtesy" that they auto renew people's accounts - what BS!!!! I paid for 30 days and that's all I wanted - not 60+!!! I warn everyone to NEVER subscribe to this site - they are ripoff artists.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I know that men complain about women being gold diggers. The complaint I have as a woman is that I felt most of the men wanted a model. I am a reasonably attractive woman and I have been told (outside of match) that I have a good figure and look younger than my age. On a scale of 1 to 10 I am at least a 6 but most of the guys want about a 9. I don't expect everyone to love me, but I do think many of the guys have their heads in the clouds. Also, I live in a isolated rural area where the pickings aren't great. Why would I want someone with 3 little kids? Also, I felt that some were after me for my money. I have a pretty good job. When I would wink at someone a ways from here, say 100 miles, a couple of days later I would get an e-mail from another person in that same area. Coincidence? I think not. Match was monitoring; in my opinion.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I have had 4 a bit suspicious cases with MATCH with 4 Thai ladies (my teaching-clients) I helped to get subscribed and I paid for them with my creditcard (of course such poor women don't have cards), accepted and a very short while afterwards all 4 accounts were blocked. Almost no way to get an answer. I am still investigating my bank-account and I am curious if they shall deduct the next periode because the ladies cannot stop their subscriptions. Problem is that it is almost impossible to get in proper contact with such hugh companies and when they react like pre-programmed robots. I keep you informed. Antoni P. Uni - Bangkok

Match_Consumer_Complaints

The fact that someone would stoop so low as to place someone's name and town on this website just because a relationship didn't work out is a complete disgrace. If a person is asked out to dinner, and then goes on said "date," but is berated afterwards for doing so. Why lead a person on if it isn't a "match," geez.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Having my full name be published on this website!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Ok my complaint is I have a prepaid bebit card and I sighned up for a 3 day trial and they rejected my trial bc I have not put any money on my card first. Like I am going to give up any money for bullshit. I want hear some succes storys first. I want to see real couples. I doubt it is real. David Trevino

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Match.com is, in my extremely angered opinion, is definitely false advertisement. There are call centers with telemarketers working 3 shifts per day emailing and winking people. I have only been on for 3 weeks but figured this out the first day. I spoke with 4 different men in one week and it was the same person upon investigating the phone numbers. There is an address in Treasure Island Florida with multiple suite numbers matching these phone lisings. I am in process of a lawsuit now due to false advertisement and emotional distress over this operation. Mesing with so many people and misleading them into believing there is a match through this is utter disgust and outright bullshit. I have collected enough evidence to pursue a lawsuit with annonymous employees of match.com. See you bastards in court very soon. Florida resident extremely pissed off

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Match.com does not send e-mails to people who are not members.... WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY. If you subscribe and send an e-mail the other person will most likely not get it. This does not work and is in my oppinion a false and misleading business practice.

I just had a bad experience, too. I was automatically charged for an additional 3-month subscription and when I tried to have the charges reversed they flat-out refused! I've contacted ABC-TV and CBS-TV so far via the internet. Guys and gals, if all we do it bitch on these sites nothing is going to be done. We must contact the media!!! These companies hate bad press. They lose alot of money! So, contact your local and network television stations, contact your local newspapers. Let's get the word out!!! Barri, nyc

same thing, i signed up for match.com and cancelled it in March of this year and i haven't looked at my credit card statement that closely but just notices they have been taking money out of my account since March and won't stop!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Match.com obtained my debit card in a fraudulent manner and charged it. I did an audit of my account and found it. I filed an affadivit of unauthorized charge. I am contacting the attorney general's office in Texas to file a criminal complaint against them.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

The idea behind Match.com makes alot of sense. There are millions of wonderful women out there, but I need to meet them before I can find the one who's right for me. So I posted a profile on Match.com and sent them the money. After I did so, I began to realize several truths. Since you can't look at people's profiles without signing up, and who wants to pay without looking to see how many potential soulmates Match.com has in its database, lots of people sign up without sending any money. Match.com leaves these profiles in the database, since it looks great for those shopping. But Match.com will not deliver and email to any of those members, so if you send an email and you don't get a response, there's a good chance that Match.com didn't deliver it. You've probably already established that the "free trials" aren't. If, like me, you're dissatisfied with Match.com, take a moment to complain to the BBB (complaints@dallas.bbb.org). Be prepared to respond after Match.com replies, since if you don't continue to complain, the BBB decides that you are satisfied! Tell them Alistair sent you. A

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Try this on for size: 1- I am not EVEN a MEMBER of Match.com, 2- I have somehow been confused with a member named Billqu894, and 3- I am a female. I got my first email from Match.com about a week ago. I think I deleted that one. The next email came with pictures of women! I have received a second and third email with women's pictures. I don't want these emails, and I'm sure these women would be pretty surprised their pictures are being sent to a woman. I emailed Customer Care and told them this has got to stop. I said I would start emailing these ladies to tell them Match.com is sending their photos to another woman and would let them decide what they think of this service. Well, from what I've read so far about trying to get help from Match.com, it's like talking to a wall. At first, I thought Match.com might be a free service, but now I see that there is a charge, often even after you think you've cancelled. From what I've heard about their customer service, that alone should end up putting them out of business. If I am getting all these photos of women, what's Billqu894, a paying member, getting?

Match should be sued for outright internet fraud. The fact that you pay to send a note to someone and Match refuses to deliver that note unless the recipient ALSO pays to receive it should be investigated.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

To whom this may concern, this is a complaint of recieving a draft from my bank account, not authorized by me,and as a result because of that draft,it left my account111.oo in the negative ,I can't get my Insulin, nor buy food, not to mention my account is presenty messed up,and I will be seeking Legal assistance to,get my money back.I find it very hard to believe that verification wasn't taken before this draft was taken.I may even be asked to vacate my apartment because I can't even pay rent, now how is that for a shocker.L.P.s

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I signed up for a 6 month membership about 2 months ago. I cannot sign on - Match tells me I don't have an account. It took me an hour to find out how to contact you and customer service could only give me this email. I want to know what is wrong with my service.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

The biggest problem with match.com is that about half of the profiles are of nonsubscribers (I know this from a secret but reliable source) and they do not deliver messages to people who are not subscribed - they don't even say who it's from. So, many people are baited into signing up by a great ad, thinking that their message will at least be delivered in return for their payment - but no. Seriously fraudulent. They do deliver winks to nonsubscribers, but then nonsubscribers can send them. I don't believe claims that they post fake ads - they just have many users who are flaky. Be sure to read the fine print on their subscription policies - it's all there, including the fact that you can sign up for their 3-day trial online, but to cancel the 3-day subscription, they have to receive a paper mail notice at their office in texas before the end of those 3 days. So basically you have to send your cancellation before you subscribe. Yahoo is just as bad. It's really not that hard to google "free online dating" to find sites like okcupid and plentyoffish that don't put you through this BS. It's too bad that more people haven't done this yet, so that these sites would have more users.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I was very unhappy with Match as well and demanded a refund by email, I emailed everyone I could find connected with the company including corporate officers of their parent company. After months I did get a refund. Pursue Pursue Puruse. I don't have all the emails so you'll need to do some digging. Follow all the other advice in this thread. They will lose in court and have to pay restitution and the company will fold. Every other PAID dating service is going to have problems. In fact every internet subscription service where they can auto renew you is going to have problems, but if enough people disput the cc charges and chargeback the credit card co will ban the offenders.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

match.com isn't worth it people! A prime example is pre-school teacher Melissa Molvar from Douglas, MA who has been on there for three years! match is full of serial daters - men and women who just wanta date nothing more, and women who want a free dinner - right Melissa?

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Hello. I will try to make this short. I signed up for a one month subscription with Match.com on May 30. First, for 2 days I couldn't get a photo posted. NO ONE returned my emails requesting help. Finally my pictures posted. Then for one wholeday, maybe the next day, my profile was not available/viewable to any other members. No responses or apologies to my emails...Now...2 days ago, I attempted to log onto my acct and was greeted with a message that said " unable to log on to acct. Please call customer svc at 800....." I called them immediately and was then told that they had no info regarding my acct and that I needed to email "abuseteam@match.com" I was very confused at this point as to what the problem was. I researched what the "abuse team" was and discovered that they apparently handle problems/concerns between members. I emailed them immediately requesting some kind of explanation as to what the problem was as I had NOT in ANY way, shape or form violated any of their rules nor had I bothered ANYONE in a negative way. I barely had any communication with anyone!!!! The small amount of communication that I did have was very nice. I have emailed them repeatedly and it is not going on 3 days that I have not been able to access my acct. I have been charged for a service and locked out of it without ANY kind of explanation. I sent an email to let customer service know that I DID NOT want to renew my subscription when it expires at the end of the month and they havent bothered to respond. Tonight, I called the 800 # again to let them know that I did not want to renew. The girl (Nicole) then put me on hold for 3-4 minutes and came back to let me know that since I emailed cust svc to cancel that I had to "wait" for them to send me an email and since my acct was on hold that it had to be investigated first!!! What the heck is that??? I can't believe the things that I have come across as far as the problems that people everywhere are having with Match. Including people having the SAME EXACT problem as I am. Quite a coincidence. It's not the $30 that I have lost but what is going on behind it. I am sooooo angry and so are 1000's of others. So many people have been scammed by Match in many different ways... something has to be done to these greedy, scamming SOB's! I found a website to an attorney in CA that is in the process of filing a class action lawsuit. The website address is: http://www.aogllp.com/cui2.cfm?id=9 I emailed them with my info tonight and I hope something can be done. I am also writing them to let them know that I will be pursuing a small claim against them. Again, it's not the money, it's the principal. Good Luck!

Here is some information to add to other complaints. I have had the same billing problems. I told them I didn't want to roll over my membership. Well, it worked once. Toward the end of the first month they sent me reminders to renew. I renewed for three months. I called and told them again that I did not want to renew at the end of the next three months. Well, guess what someone forgot to enter that into the Match.com computer. So, they have no record of this call. But, my credit card was billed. The customer relations people informed me that I had used the email service. I told them that if the service had been cancelled as I had asked then that would not have happened. In other words, it's my fault. Here is something you can do. The current president is Jim Safka (as of May 2006) The address of the company is 8300 Douglas Avenue, Suite 800, Dallas, TX 75225-5826 Supposedly, Tony Johnson is the manager over customer relations. His extension is 214 His assistant is Jennifer Atkins. I live in Washington state. You can file with a complaint with the attorney general's office in this state. They will contact Match.com and see what type of response is given. As is usual for the state of Texas, many companies who locate there do so because of the liberal laws. The state does not monitor businesses in the state very carefully. Reference back to the favorite company of all time Enron. It appears that Match.com is not incorporated under the name Match.com. So, if you wanted to sue the company you need to find out its name and then you can find out its agent. It located there in January of 2000 from New Jersey. Beware of companies incorporated in Texas.

I signed up about 1 wk. ago or less and I cannot receive any answers on my e-mail. I have tried to change to the same as the ones that come in to me - name@talkmatch.com. I can't return the msg. sent to me. This is not fair! I paid for 1 mo. at $29.99, have rec'd many winks but CANNOT return the calls. If they can come in on "talkmatch.com" why can't I answer them? You are a very unfair company, and would never recommend anyone using. You make it all sound so cheap and easy, but make it impossible to return msg rec'd from anyone. Why is this? You are a fraudulent company and treating people that put their "golden years" in ur hands, as well as young people, and make it sound like a fairy tale. Believe you cheat everyone! Again, I ask why can I receive msgs but cannot return them. Is this fair? I don't think so. That was just $29.99 I wasted! And with no results. Thanks for nothing! Very upset and angry in Florida!!!

Hi.I am absolutely fuming. If i had known that other members would not be able to reply to my messages, i would not have subscribed for a month.I put in a full complaint to match com and i am only getting automated replies.Match com is a fraudulent company and has no concerns for happiness of its members. They are obviously only in this for the money. Teata from Australia.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I would like to know why Match.com offers subscriptions in monthly increments,..like 2 months for this price and 3 months for that price,..if they are going to automatically charge your credit card after the time you subscribed to,.is over???! What is the Point? Why don't they just tell you it's so much per month EVERY month and you will be billed EVERY MONTH automatically unless you cancel your membership!?? Know why? 'Cause they're scammers! and you will not receive a response from Customer service either! C'mon,...soneone out there with money do a class action on these assholes!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

On or about January 14, 2006, I telephoned Match.com to purchase a subscription to their service. Prior to that time, I had a membership in their service which did not require payment. The paid subscription included additional items not offered to regular members. The subscription was for the limited term of three (3) months and cost $35.68, for which I paid by providing the Match.com telephone representative with my credit card number. The purchase was transacted entirely over the telephone. The charge of $35.68 was posted to my credit card statement on January 15, 2006, and has been paid in full. Yesterday, May 22, 2006, I received my current monthly credit card statement. Listed is a charge in the amount of $50.97 that was posted to my account on April 18, 2006, by Match.com. I never authorized this charge. Today I sent an email to CustomerCare@Match.com informing them that I had not authorized the charge of $50.97, and asked them to contact my credit card company to have the charge removed. They responded to me with an email which contains the following: "Match.com currently has a 'no refund policy'. When you select 'subscribe', your credit card is charged immediately and, unless you resign, your subscription is automatically renewed after your initial subscription period is complete." Since I placed my subscription entirely over the telephone, I never selected "subscribe" on their online website. I have contacted my credit card company and have placed the charge in dispute. In addition, I have reported the matter to the Department of Consumer Affairs, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Better Business Bureau.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

The worst possible customer service! they just refuse to deal with concerns or questions if it doesn't benefit them. I've asked them repeatedly to confirm that I've cancelled my membership since everytime I check I see it as reactivated,..they just won't get back to me. I told them,..if they automatically charge me again,.even though I've cancelled,.I will notify the BBB and the FTC. These people are like Vultures! that Cohen guy must really need money. I can only pray and hope that someone with a lot of money for attorneyscand high connections take's this place out! I hope someone does a class action lawsuit,...these people arre scammers,..trying to tell me that they only have 34 pages of members within a 1000 mile radius of my home,...yeah,..screw you Match.com!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Aside from the fact that Match.com automantically renew's memebership without notice,.I've actually had to cancel my credit card to keep them from doing it even though I cancelled membership way in advance of expiration,.they are full of it when it comes to other members. How is it that with their "millions" of members,..when I have very generous perameters (males 30 to 44 within 800 miles of my zip) I only get max of 40 members coming back??? That's all they've got? Same 40 members,.day in day out. I can come up with more than 40 single guys within just 50 miles of my zip! I'd love to get my hands on this Cohen guy. And to the guys that complain that the women on Match are all shallow, money hungry, witches,..well,.maybe it you weren't looking only for supermodel types, and gave average women a chance..you'd have better luck. Men complain that women only want studs who are tall with muscles and money,..yet all they want (men) are supermodels. So it's the same. It all boils down to shallow people in the world,..and Match.com being a sneaky, underhanded company that will someday fall.

Continued being billed after cancelation. A repeated problem. Mary E. Cody

Match_Consumer_Complaints

F#$%ing fake wink got me to sign up. Only way to cancel was spend more $ on a $30 dollar telegram or go to the post office and send a registered letter I'm guessing is the same cost. All are equal to the subscribtion price!!! Even stuck with an account they still can't get my profile picture loaded. Total scam operation!!!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I was offered a 10-day free trial (I don't know why they kept posting 10 days vs. 3-days) AFTER I Cancelled PRIOR TO THE DEADLINE, they WRONGFULLY AUTOMATICALLY BILLED my account. I now see this is all too common of practive for Match.com. I am seeking restitution through my charge card company after 3 emails from Match where they refuse to acknowledge my cancellation. Someone with the skills to do so should post this (and other) complaint sites along side of all the search engines for Match sign up. They are billing scam artist. DO a Charge Back on your credit card, copy the cancellation when you cancell with Match, you will have to copy and paste on your own for any trail of their internal systems. Good luck. Persever. Let them learn they can't keep scamming people.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Fake profiles... I've had several wink at me... then 2 days later they live 1000+ miles from me... then the profiles are hidden. The last one happened this morning and I found a few other profiles that are almost, if not, identical. I found the identical ones by taking a sentence from the profile and putting it into the keyword search (placing the sentence in double quotes in the search box). One of the identical ones even had the same pictures as one that winked at me last year. Well, I'm all done with that site now. The profiles that I have found so far that are very similar to the one from this morning have the usernames Verny4u, organic882, and tangerine0440. Of course, I'm sure those will be changed soon. A couple of the identical sentences include....... "I cant believe Im actually writing this profile, but like you, I havent found that special person yetand I know youre out there!"....... and ...... "My fifth grade teacher would never believe how far I've come."

Gathering of liars, losers, cynical, bitter S.O.B, who are either financially, emotionally, physically unstable, if not all 3 in one bouquet. The ratio of finding someone is ridiculous, not considering that there are tons of fake profiles through out the country. Both man and woman constant liars, they either have an ex which they try to get over, if not married or engaged, emotionally crippled even when they write how passionate they are, owe a lot of money, and not for the house or the car, credit cards. Physically barely can get there groove on, not even mentioning some extremely low hygiene problems, or extremely high into themselves . Blaming there parents, exes, friends(they do not have) for all there own faults. I am not even mentioning the appearances. And do not even think if the person dirty washes his ex, will eventually do the same to you. And how much disrespect when someone f...s you, dates you but there profile is still there. FUCK YOU MATCH.COM, hopefully in a couple of years this virtual business will die. The world will be so much better if they close down all the matching sites at once, and all the losers will stay home in front of the TV's masturbating.

Match.com certainly insinuates high expectations for all, but for me (like most guys), I am finally walking away "empty-handed" after A YEAR! I'm an in-shape, good looking 37 yr old guy with a decent job and good personality. I am convinced that the M to W ratio is about 5:1 and I suspect that Match.com posts fake female profile to project balance. I get about one response for every 20 women I email (no, I'm not emailing only "hotties). Some of these women tell me that they get about 30 emails/winks per day and actually want to cancel as well because that burden! Yes I have gone a small number of dates and they sucked. They were almost like a job interview setting in which the woman had a large choice of "applicants" and I was just one of the many "privideged" to get an "interview". And priviledged to get 2 hours of her time and also pay for her meal. Also, on occassion, I will get an unsolicited email from some Russian woman who is either seeking a green card or who is invoolved with some mail order bride service. No thanks.

MATCH.COM COMPLAINT They advertised a three day free trial but made you actually sign up for one month At $34.95. It was stated that there would be one charge only. After this, I assumed they would contact me to see if I wanted to continue for 12 months at a much much lower rate for the full year. They did not and I realized that they were continuing to provide service. I went online and found that I would have to ACTUALLY CANCEL if I wanted to discontinue. They were automatically charging me the highest rate of $34.95. So I cancelled. I was careful to ensure that they did not continue to charge me again. They had charged me in February, and the beginning of March. Then this is when I cancelled. I found out that they ALSO charged again at the end of March. I went online and made sure that the system was cancelled, just a few days ago in April. I got an e-mail to say that it had been cancelled and I queried this with them, asking for reassurance, but they did not respond. This morning, I got an e-mail from a potential romantic match (now it is May 1), so I realized that my profile was still on line and that the service had started up again. I cancelled a third time. Then I contacted VISA and they confirmed that I had been charged once in February and twice in March. I told Visa I wanted a refund on the last payment and that they were never ever to honour anything to Match.com again. By rights, I feel I should have two refunds of $34.95 because I only ever authorized one charge and that was for the initial trial. I feel they should be reported to the police as this is a scam.

I have joined match.com in a hope that I may find a girl, I am a very handsome dark guy I believe who is educated and has a very secure and high paying job... Yet 30 emails I send out only 1 comes back... and I only get like 1 girl emailing me every few days, and usually they dont have PICS!.. which probbably means they look like shit!... Anyway.. I still havent found that girl.. and match can go kiss my ass... Will not be reniewing... im sorry everyone had bad experiences wishing men all the best... and women can get fucked cos they have it easy... It didnt help when one girl on match said she received 20000 emails from men, hence I stopped emailing her.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Well...i can say this about Match.com...i was on for a year...i met TONS of people.... online/phone and I narrowed it down to about 20 that i metin person..so you do meet people sure... do i think that Match scams people into sending fake emails ..sure I do...that is a ploy of theres... and I will say that I have met some really nice men and I've had horror stories...I think that regardless of how you meet people you risk meeting both types..good and bad. Be cautious, use common sense-( for me it's the guys over 37-40 who have never been married/no kids because to me that alot-not most-times means that they have commitment issues. Good luck on your dating endeavors!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I firmly believe match.com sends phoney messages and winks to get people to sign up. they prey on the lonely. I wasn't a member, but i sure got a lot of e-mail I couldn't read until I handed over my cash. As soon as I sign up, the messages stop. No winks no responses. SCAM!!!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Long ago, I signed up for Match.com because I wanted to respond to all those e-mails I received from potential matches after I placed my "FREE" profile! Oddly enough, once I paid, and responded, most of the people who had "winked" or "e-mailed" me weren't even members, or didn't know who I was. I thought it was me, until recently. I filled out another "FREE" profile, only to get lots of e-mails from other members, which I can't read until I pay. So, I searched the internet for information about Match, and noticed that there were a lot of complaint from people who were sucked in, as I was. Here is my correspondence to Match, and their response, or lack thereof: Sent to Match from me: I am considering signing up so that I can read my e-mail however after reading numerous blogs about Match.com they suggest that not all the e-mails are actually from other members. How do I find out if all the e-mails are from other members (and not from Match.com) before signing up? Thank you. Subj: Re: My Email Date: 4/10/2006 1:04:01 AM Pacific Daylight Time From: CustomerCare@match.com Sent from the Internet (Details) Thanks for contacting us. Due to the nature of your inquiry, we can better assist you over the phone at 1-800-926-2824. We are available Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 8:00pm CST. International callers, please dial 1-956-782-7736. Sincerely, Marilyn Subj:Re: My Email  Date:4/10/2006 7:37:37 AM Pacific Daylight Time To: CustomerCare@match.com Dear Marilyn,    Is there any way I could have a response in writing.  Again, the websites dedicated to covering the issues and lawsuits against Match.com say that one of the reasons you won't put it in writing is because the e-mails are misleading and NOT sent from members.  I just want to know, before signing up, if the e-mails sent to me are actually sent from other members, and not from Match.com.  I realize that there may be some bitter people out there who didn't get anything from the service, but if you could reassure me in writing, I would pay to read my e-mails.  Since this last e-mail, I have not received any further response. I think this speaks for itself!

I haven't been on Match.com for some time, I just recently relogged in and I can honestly say it still SUCKS as usually. Being a gay man, I can tell you that Match only has trashy guys on it, and they're not that great looking either. I can honestly see why they use this online dating thing as a ruse to get suckers to date. People, just save your money, and go out and have a good time the old fashion way. As for me, I do a whole lot better by going out and meeting nice people in person.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I have been on and off match for some time too, like a lot of woman, but been off of it for a while now. Have to claim it is not for everyone, if you already had enough of bad experience, and kissed enough frogs, who did not turn into prince, do not expect it will happen on match or any other virtual site. Yes, a lot of man are after one thing, and woman are no better. It is true that match does not screen there members and yes,a lot of them are married. I personally know a couple man who are on the site and married, and keep claiming in there profile there are looking for a serious relationship. Mostly, I came to tell you something very different. I am sure they where no way match could of screen this dump fuck. And there is no blame to match employees there just doing there job, to pay for the living. But here it goes. I work with a couple young sophisticated woman, who are attractive and fun. Yes, they do have some habits but do not we all. One is engaged, another looking. The one who is looking decided to try match, I did not want to scare her, and did not tell her anything except, be careful and that personally it was not for me. So, it has been about 5 weeks in her search for a "soulmate". She would call 2 of us in her office, and will ask us to screen some man in whom she showed interest. To tell you the truth I saw some familiar faces who where there over a year ago, but going to the point. Since it is a little bit of a slow season for us at work, we did put a little bit too much effort helping her. And about 7 days ago discovered other girls fianc picture on this lovely site, with the profile which was active 24 hours ago. Since most of us have pictures of family and friends in our offices, we pretty much froze, yes we all did recognize him. Actually I met him first time during our fancy, but god dam boring Christmas party. Mostly when I go over her house he is on business out of state or works late. The girl who was searching match never met him in person, but trust me we saw our share of his pictures. The reaction was unusual, we pretty much where staring at the picture for about 3 minutes, it probably seemed like a lifetime to my lovely coworker friend. I decided the silence needs to be broken. What I was thinking I can not recall, but I started with, honey someone could of ask him for the picture, or just borrowed it from the shared drive at work. To tell you the truth he is very physically attractive, when I talked to him during Christmas party, he seemed completely normal. No one panicked, I have to give it to the girl that she did not became hysterical, and did not draw any conclusions right away. The other girl claimed that I can be very right and it is very easy to check. Not that we decide on some good deed, but I am sure most woman will fully support our decision. Let me put it that way the other women happiness was at stake. After reading his lovely profile, which claimed he was looking for something very serious and compassionate, and looking at 7 more pictures(in one picture he was with his fianc, but she was cut out). Finally 2,5 days ago we decided to post a fake profile, since I am from a different country and have an accent we also decided to find pictures of some exotic girls where I am from originally and post them. I was a little skeptical at first, what if someone just doing the same thing we are doing. But it was too late to back out, and to tell you the truth I was extremely curious. I actually went to a couple cheap Russian escort sites, and definitely found pictures of some very questionable woman. And finally we all decided and picked really stand out redhead with huge lips, blue eyes and definitely gorgeous body. Not only one redhead, another ala natural blonde with huge tits, green eyes, and another one with really sophisticated look, looked more like a teacher than a whore. The deed was done all the girls where posted, I know no respect for others, why they have to pay, why not just to confront him. But it was done, the profiles where new, fresh, waiting to be approved. While we peacefully where waiting for the approval, all 3 of us signed up for a 3 day trial with one month extension, the girl offer to pay for us if we need to continue longer than 3 days, but we both where so intrigued to find the end of this drama. So, and what do you think? We did not have to wait for long, the redhead who is represented by me and the Blondie who was represented by other coworker got a wink on the first day, from our lovely coworker friend fianc. I will not tell how many other responses those whores got, from man not only where we live, but from all over the country. The ratio for them would climb by the second, and trust me their profiles claim only serious man with serious intentions need to apply. Yes, we did made fun of some people, but to some we politely said that we not interested. But another thing no one except, when we will write no thanks, we would get a lot of emails back, below just two examples. (can man tell a difference between whores and some real woman?) And also man who are 20 to 30 years older will email us, but we made our fake girls 30 and 29 years old Example1: I'm not sure where you interpreted that we are looking for different things, as I seemed to match you list pretty well and passed the "have your mind set on friendship with benefits, casual dating or getting over emotional, financial rollercoaster, in a relationship, have a wife, live with an ex" test. I suppose I just may not be your physical type and I respect that, but if that's not it, I would ask you to reconsider. Maybe I can explain something that's not clear to you. Example2: I appreciate your response. Are you trying to say that you don't think I am ready for a Long Term? If so, you would be wrong. I have been online now for about 11 months, and although I have had the opportunity to date, I have not found someone "fits" who I am looking for -- for the long term. Am I dating? Yes. Am I dating with an eye to the future? Most definitely. The only way I can determine if someone is right for me, is by emailing them or visiting them live. I hope this isn't too bold, but wouldn't it be curious if I was the right person for you.....and we "missed" each other? Despite my generally upbeat nature, I don't lie AND I don't play games. Life is too short for either of these. Okay,I am Russian, maybe I do not understand something:), but I have lived in the country for 13 years, graduated high school and college here, but other 2 girls born here, lived here their entire life. And do man can tell the difference between professional photos of real whores and normal human beings Enough of that going back to our fianc situation. The redhead and the Blondie both winked back at him, and here our Casanova got back with such intriguing emails. To make my point today he send his phone number, apparently my coworker friend and he has a family plan from Verizon. He asked me for a drink after work tonight, the Blondie date is tomorrow, he really did not went for the sophisticated looking whore. The reaction of my very friendly coworker friend, who actually never swears was not that good this time, actually she called and told her parents. I can not describe their reaction, thanks god it was over the phone. But the decision was made to sent him my phone number, I was a little afraid he might recognize my not mistakable Russian accent. But he did left me a message where we meeting tonight, and yes it was him. I am sure his ex fianc, he has no idea about it yet. But we all going to meet him, that is not going to be pretty. There where times when I was skeptical that I did not give enough chance to some man on match, and yes I did met one person I was interested in but he was not in to me. But in reality I do not think it is all worse it. Did we start forgetting how it is to meet people thru friends, how is it not to lie, at least if you meet thru a friend or a family there is 95% chance the person is not married, engaged or in a serious relationship. I am not calling myself angel here, or that 3 of us did something good. But there is no women in this world who deserve this. I will not tell anyone what to do, make your own decisions But neither of us will ever join, look or browse any of these sites again. Good Luck

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Following are merely allegations that represent my observations and opinion. Moreover, Match.com does not represent its position herein, and may indeed be innocent with respect to any accusation of fraudulent publications and/or deception. I purchased a two month membership. I got a huge amount of matches but most of them would not correspond. I sent out over 200 winks with no response. The three women that did correspond from my city turned out to be from Nigeria. When I corresponded with them through their preferred email addresses, they all solicited me for money ah la scam. I will not renew because none of the women seem to be anything like what I am looking for.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I've subscribed to Match.com on and off for several years now. I've sent hundreds of emails, most with my personal Yahoo email address 'hidden' in my message. I've emailed with maybe a dozen women and talked on the phone with maybe three total. I have not been on an actual date with a single one. It's been found - in scientific research - that women, while searching online, will INCREASE their standards for men in the areas of height, attractiveness, money, etc. THAT's the major problem meeting a woman online. She won't talk to a certain man online who doesn't meet her 'online standards' even though she normally would have had she met him in person. I don't know why... that's just women being women. There are fake ads that Match does nothing about. That's terrible, but I doubt they'll ever get (successfully) sued over that. As for married men, well, there's not much I think Match can do about that. Sorry ladies. That's just men being men, and background checks for everyone on Match would probably be cost-prohibitive. The ONE REAL misleading practice that I think Match engages in is creating it's OWN fake profiles, or RINGERS... I've noticed that each time I cancel my subscription (waaay ahead of time so I don't get billed again), I IMMEDIATELY get an email that I can't READ, let alone view the profile of the person who sent it. If I re-subscribe, I will email the woman back and hear NOTHING back from her... EVER. I'm positive these women are fake profiles created by Match to get recent cancellers back. That's a deceptive practice, and Match should get into a class action suit over that (one is pending in NY since Nov 2005). Unfortunately, they would have to be subpoenaed by a court for their databases and records, and someone could easily destroy all proof they engage in this fraud BEFORE sending the data. The only chance for any real justice would be if a whistle blower employed by Match came forward with evidence of this fraudulent practice. Good luck, and avoid the temptation to re-renew your membership just 'cause some unknown girl winked at you the day after you cancelled.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Well, here's a story from a woman's standpoint: I've been on Match almost 3 months now. I've been on 3 dates with men I met through Match, and all 3 dates were a nightmare. Either with anger because I wasn't mutually attracted in them, or with total rudeness because I refused to go along with their demands and desires. Sorry but some people seem to think Match is mailorderbride.com or something. I have yet to meet a nice, kind, sincere gentleman on Match. All I seem to 'winked at' by... are inconsiderate cavemen who were apparently raised by wolves. I think this is the problem: Match.com is inhabited MOSTLY by people who are truly socially dysfunctional. I think the proof of that is the number of people on there who just go back and forth with people they're interested in... in email, and chat. These people don't have the skills necessary to move it to the next level, off of Match.com - over to a DATE. The ones who do, are aggressive about it, and that ends up coming out during the date. There doesn't appear to be a gray area on Match ... and with the ratio of normal to psycho there, it's no wonder. So far, I've got not a single positive thing to say about Match.com, and as much as I try to keep the faith, it seems every week some new mental case shows interest in me. Usually, a mental case who is WAY older than me, desperate, rude, obnoxious, demanding, inconsiderate and incapable of reading my entire profile. Seriously. If a profile says "Women seeking man 29-39", and you're a 55 year old man... WHY wink or bother that person? What is the deal with that? No respect. None. The dating pool is shallow on Match.com - shallow, and murky. Save your money and go to a bar. Everyone loves to write, "I don't want to meet someone in a bar" in their profiles, the chances of meeting someone at a bar are better because those people at the bar aren't social recluses and socially deviant shut in's. If they were, they wouldn't be at the bar. You know what else is weird about Match.com ?? Men are given several 'other' choices as far as body art listed on their profiles (like 'other piercings you'll have to ask me about'. Women, get 'ears' and 'belly button ring'. That's it. Isn't that just a LITTLE sexist?? I think it is.

Their customer servioce is two guys that sit in a room and are monitored by no one. Match does not give refunds and if you are not careful in cancelling your subscription within 30 days they automatically renew. I met a few people none of which were a match or just did not want the commitment. One was a major sociopath and lied about everything trying to con his way into womens hearts. A total whore. Their pics are not recent and there is no screening process. Beware of members who have been online for a long time. They are serial daters and are usually married.

I got suckered into parting with my cash by match.com too. I'd done the free sign up thing and a week or so later I got an email from them saying that two women wanted to talk to me. When I got on the site I was surprised to find I couldn't read the mail or even see the womens profiles without joining up. (You can read, see pictures sent and reply to emails sent to you on the FriendFinder services) So I joined up only to find that both emails were identical to each other and from a 28 year old black woman in the U.S. Not much good to me when I'm looking for a white woman in her forties in London, England. Only then did alarm bells ring and I did a search to find that match.comm are regularly accused of sending out emails to get users to sign up.

Match.com is a complete waste of time and effort for everyone. I was lucky and wasable to get the service cancelled with no further billing, but in the year I was on Match.com I never recieved more that 3 emails and only 2 actual dates, the ladies were nice but distance was a problem one lived 120 miles from me and the other 50 but I stil talk to them occasionally and are friends. But I also kept getting emails from girls on match.com that wanted me to send them emails to XXX@yandex.ru ie a russian internet service. the two worst offenders were a 28 year old calling herself Tatyana who looked like a fashinon model (I'm 47 and don't look like a model) she fell madly in love with me after a whopping 5 e-mails LOL. The other was a 35 year old Dentist again from Russia, who wnated to marry me and come to the US if I would send her $1,500 for tickets etc she is still waiting for the money btw. The only slightly odd thing was the 28 year old never asked for money for anything and ! suggested that if I wanted to meet her I'd have to come to russia. She may have been serious but 28-47 to much of a differance regardless. My advice is forget online dating and either do it the old fashioned way or be happy and single as I did

I think I speak for everyone when I say that Match.com is just for entertainment. At best, I can remember when I would have given them a C+ rating, but that site has really hit the bricks after 2004 and that ain't no lie. Three years ago, I signed up, got a fair amount of e-mails and winks, some good, some bad, okay, Two years later I went back in and decided to see if I could get my numbers up. Despite the fact that I had acquired savvy through articles I have read about how to present yourself in a good light, read books about internet dating, how to avoid game players and married men, etc., my response rate was pathetic. Maybe about four guys responded (in the same time frame as two years ealier btw) all of them over 40, (at 27, I knew that when a guy over 45 is interested, it just means that he is threatened by someone his own age.) from foreign countries, I mean, we're talking guys I wouldn't date in a hundred years. Now there's something fishy going on in which non-subs! cribing members aren't a llowed to view e-mail anymore, or so I heard through the grapevine.I know something is up, because just as a part of my "research" I re-posted my profile again very recently, and guess what. One wink in ten days.(and the "winker" doesn't even have a picture posted.) No e-mails (now its more like 20 days) Zip, zero, nada. And we're talking about a website with a 10:1 male to female ratio here? I don't like to toot my own horn but I figure if I'm not Ann Ramsey or the wicked witch of the South, then I have got a fighting chance. All you gentleman are worked up about these lopsided ratios of men to women, when guess what, I'm above average and haven't got one e-mail yet. Unless the staff is withholding the messages in my inbox, which I highly suspect is going on here. Ergo, common knowledge wil tell you that if you are doing the right thing and the odds are in your favor, results will happen. Right? Wrong, in the Twilight Zone of Match.com. Oh, and let ! me tell you another thing. I got an e-mai from them one day (no doub

I have proof that Match.com is aware of multiple fake profiles but they continue to let them exist on their website. When you complain they simply block you from seeing the person you reported as a fraud but they leave the profile on for everyone else to see. I have reported them to the State Attorneys office for Texas, Florida and California and will file a complaint with the FBI at WWW.IC3.gov and I encourage you to do the same.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I have never even been to their webpage and they charged over a $100 on my credit card. When I called them, they refused to tell me who had used my credit card details. I'm really upset with this situation, wonder if anyone else has experienced the same.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I have been on match for about 2 months now..I am not only getting winks and Emails from guys I have totally nothing in common with, I am 36 these guys are 50-60's!! I am also a good looking girl with no problem getting men. Somehow, on this site, the 2 or 3 men I really like are also into me, and then POOF!! When it comes to meeting/answering my Emails, they are ALL Gone??!! The Email counter on the guys' profiles will tell me that they sent me Email, when I click it on, NO Emails Sent???? Match gleefully told me the problem MUST be with my computer..I wanted to add to my profile that I only want men of local origin and certain age to respond to me. Match would NOT let me post it!! I am still getting guys like in their 60's who want a trophy girl to take to their daughter's wedding to piss off their ex wife!!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I was on match. com a few years and had a few dates, all failed. I came back in Nov. 05 and tried again. I have had ZERO luck this time. I got 2 emails from girls that say "respond to [this email]", I responded to one, but the other I responded to "match mail" (she never responded) and guess what? I start getting a bunch of SPAM email! So I suspect they tell you to contact them at there personal email and then they discover your email and sell it to companies and then you get spammed...

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Sounds like I have a similar story. After canceling an earlier subscription to Match.com, I signed up again on a monthly basis to respond to a message. I'd even called to cancel the subscription afterward. Sure enough, I got billed the monthly charges, $32.50 a pop, for four consecutive months. I called the phone number listed on the credit card billing. (800-926-2824) First time I called, the "escalation" team member agreed to refund the last month's billing and said I'd get an e-mail within 24 hours answering whether Match.com could: 1) Refund the other two months I was erroneously billed for. 2) Fulfill my request of removing all my information from their database. Three weeks went by, and tonight I called again. They agreed to refund one more month, but the cheerful escalation person said they couldn't refund the final month off erroneous billing. Nor will they remove my profile from their database. (It won't be seen on their Web site, though, as they'd told me earlier.) Sounds like they're entirely accustomed to these types of complaints and seemed completely calm when I said, "Listen, I just want honest business. I just want you to give me back the money you billed my credit card even though I didn't want to use your service." "Trust me, my information is of no use to you. I'll never use Match.com again." They're so full of glee and horseshit. Of course, my own mistake was not paying better attention to my credit card bill earlier on. I'd recommend anyone using Match.com who's billed erroneously to speak with their credit card company immediately. What surprised me is that the first time I called, I offered to let them make good on the billing simply by giving me the true time that money would have bought for a six-month or year subscription. They passed.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I signed up for their 3 day promo period. I resigned after a few hours. After the 3 day period, I found I was still signed up. I resigned again. This time it gave me a confirmation number, which it didn't before, even though I went through the whole process. I called their 800 number, but hung up after being on hold for 20 minutes. If something sounds like its too good to be true....

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Their latest scam - no longer allowing non-subscribers to view emails sent by subscribers - thus, even paying subscribers are losing most of their value because they can never be sure the poeple they are trying to contact will even get their email.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I signed up to match.com free trial and cancelled it within 10day trial. After the trial, last night (1/3/06) I logged into account and went to send someone email. It gave me no warnings or anything let me send the email, then showed a subscription confirmation with billing amount and showed I was being charged $29.99 I never accepted this charge and they automatically charged me without my permission. I called them up and tried to fix the probblem and they act like I voluntarily joined and they won't give me my money. So now I spent about an hour or so contacting various entities to let others know and to get my money back; BBB, FTC, State Attorney General and of course doing a chargeback with the credit card company. This is outright fraud and I'm thinking of doing a class action lawsuit against them. Anyone know how to do this and wanna join? It is nice knowing that there is a free alternative out there like Plentyoffish where you don't have to deal with things like this.

I emailed Match.com, telling them in advance I do not want to renew at the end of my current billing period (in March 2006). Here is my very frustrating communication with Match.com refusing to stop auto-renewal by any advance notice. (i.e., I must either: a) forfeit membership time if I resign in advance to stop auto-renewal or b) if I resign on the last day and we are in different time zones I may miss their exact communication deadline and be automatically renewed. (Note that their survey seems to have been taken out of commission, perhaps because of too many complaints!) -----Original Message----- From: MatchCSM [mailto:CustomerCare@match.com Sent: Friday, December 30, 2005 1:00 PM To: xxx Subject: How to resign your subscription Dear xxx, Thanks for contacting us. 1.Only boiler plate (and thus irrellevant)answers to complaints and queries. 2.No tollfree number outside USA. 3.They cut off access to all mail on expiration of the subscription period, even people you've been corresponding with, so be sure you get people's personal email. 4. No way I've found to stop the automatic renewal function. I had to phone my credit card company and get them to issueme a new card.

28 Dec'05 I joined match.com and cancelled re-billing next day. I have their confirmation. On my last day I hid my profile and left. I learned from my Bank that they activated billing( not membership, note)and got $29.99 for the next month. Imagine how much they steal if they do it millions? Total scam. they do not answer emails

I am getting billed 29.95 in my checking account but my log in does not work for the past 3 months. I am in indonesia, have no responds to emails and I can find only 800 numbers that dont work here

I worked for Match.com for years. They forced me worked overtime, forced me to miss my scheduled course with a promise to pay for course fee on my second last week at job. Months have passed, after numerous phone calls and email they with not say that they won't pay but will not pay the money either!!! They are cunning assholes. I wish match.com get busted over their acts. Joe Cohen and team are just money hungry vultures. Beware of them!!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I DID receive a refund from Match.com. Please note my lengthy complaint about 4 items down. I also complained to the Department of Consumer Affairs of Texas, the Better Business Bureau of Dallas, the Federal Trade Commission and to my credit card company. All these places can be reached on-line and it did not take me that long to complete their forms. All were responsive, including Match.com. So try it!! It works!

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I logged on to Match and submitted my profile. When I looked at other memebers profiles I was invited to email them for free, via a free 3 day trial. I duly followed all their links and then cancelled 2 minutes later as per their instruction, and yes, you've guessed it, was billed for 6 months. I emailed, I called. I email and I called and threatened them with legal procedings on a daily basis. they did not respond to my emails personally, just sent a standard reply but I did not give up. I emailed their legal department and told them I wanted thier address to send legal citations to. 2 days ago I was give a full refund, with no communication to tell me it had happened but it is a full refund never the less. The 3 free day trial is a total scam, phone them. I'm in the UK and we don't seem to have the same problem with getting replies. Most peopleI have made contaxt with are genuine, but Match is NOT.

Being in Canada the 800 phone no. on my Visa bill does not work, I thought I signed up for a trial, but checking my visa shows a $77US fee billed for 6 months which is not what I wanted, and I cannot seem to find anyone or anywhere to contact these people. My Visa person took my complaint and said she was aware of a lot of this and told me I should change my Visa no. so they cannot bill me again because it probably will continue. P*ssed in Canada match.com is a scam

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Beware, this company does automatic renewals without any notification. When you tell them that you never authorized the renewal and want a refund, they refuse and tell you that they do not offer refunds. Total scam.

Guys...I just sent the note about subscribers not having access to all "members" as Match.com states. I just read some of your posts. About the WINKS...and the reason they don't get answered. I can speak for myself only but imagine alot of women are in the same boat. I don't pay for the services of Match or any other service for that matter. If I get a wink and I like the person I will wink back. Then they usually send an email....but I can't respond because I'm not a "subscriber" BUT if they READ my profie they will see it states I'm not a member. So guys...send the ladies your email address (in cryptic) because as I said Match will strip it. Say...I'm on AOL as #%#%#^ just don't use the XXX@XXX.com... good luck ;-)

Match_Consumer_Complaints

PLEASE POST THIS IMMEDIATELY. MATCH.COM IS RIPPING OF "SUBSCRIBERS". IF YOU ARE A SUBSCRIBER AND THINK YOU HAVE "ACCESS" TO ALL MEMBERS. YOU DON'T ONLY OTHER SUBSCRIBERS. I HAVE A PROFILE. IN MY PROFILE IT SAYS I'M NOT A MEMBER AND TO SEND A WAY TO GET IN TOUCH. WHEN A SUBSCRIBER SENDS ME AN EMAIL WITH HIS HOME OR WORK EMAIL MATCH.COM STRIPS THE HOME OR WORK ADDRESS FROM THE SUBSCRIBERS EMAIL AND PUTS THEIR EMAIL ADDRESS. I CALLED THEM ON IT AND THEY PUT ME ON HOLD FOR HRS AND NOW WON'T TALK TO ME!! GUYS ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF!!!

I joined Match.com for 3 months just to try it out and did not have much luck within those 3 months. I was billed $63.43 in the beginning and then they billed me again another $63.43. I e-mailed them and they gave me a phone number to call, 1-800-926-2824. I called and they said that since I did not get back to them they automatically billed me for another 3 months. I don't ever remember agreeing to automatic billing. I cancelled my membership at that time and they said that I would only be refunded $26.14 because I did not cancel my membership before the first 3 months was over. I feel that match.com has no right to bill me automatically. I looked on their web site and could not even find anything about cancelling the automatic billing.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Match.com just plain SUCKS. The women are picky bitches looking for a movie star rich guy. If you are not tall dark and handsome AND have a lot of bucks forget it. Even the women that wink at you must have winked at 100 guys because by the time you reply to them they don't bother to reply back. I've been on this site for several years on and off and have not hooked up once. Be careful if you are on the auto renew thing because they renew your monthly or whatever several days in advance. Cancel a week ahead of time if you pay for the service.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I had been on and off this site for a few years. The customer service is horrible. They kept telling me the pictures I was sending in for my profile were too blurry, however the pictures were totally fine. They would post them and them remove them and put up old pictures from 3 years prior instead. I complained to customer service and the sent me harrassing emails telling me they dont feel sorry for me and my suffering. It was horrible customer service, like it was all a big joke to them. So I basically told them if they send me another email I would charge them with harrassment and then I blocked their website from emailing me. I don't recommend anyone do match.com, they are out for your money and thats about it. I work for a customer service center myself and would never think of treating or saying things to any customer's that they said to me.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I have been on match.com off and on for several years. I see some of the same women on there all the time yet they don't want to go out. They would rather stay home on the weekend and browse the site. I've had women wink at me, only to reply to them and then they never respond. I've sent emails to 30 women at a time without one response and I'm not ugly and am educated and successful. I think the site is full of extremely picky women looking for Tom Cruise and they just aren't gonna find him.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Match.com is worth a try, but you can't rely on it indefinitely. Although it serves as a vehicle for communicating, one must remember that they are operating in cyberspace, which doesn't lend itself to credibility. I am a good-looking well-educated man who has recently decided to abandon cyberspace(&Match.com) and instead return to the planet Earth.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I'm a good looking guy with a college degree. I have contacted women on match.com who had profiles indicating a very good mutual match with me. I've had a response rate of 1 in 10. In one case I sent maybe 30 lines of thoughtful text based on the woman's profile. She replied with just two lines saying she was interested and asking an off the wall question about one of my hobbies. I mailed her again, like an idiot taking the time to compose a thoughtful letter. Never heard from her again. In another case the woman took the time to tell me she would be interested in talking to me except she's busy talking to others. Okay. The most interesting was the Japanese immigrant who says she's looking for help with English and somebody interested in Japanese culture. Well I've taught ESL (English as a Second Language) and I'm interested in Japanese culture. Looking at profiles we're perfect mutual matches. She was looking for somebody with my exact (non-white) race/ethnicity. I mailed her and never heard a word back. Her profile was written in very poor English. To the point you would wonder how she manages to navigate a sight like match.com. Her profile info also indicated she was active within the previous 24 hours. I also remember seeing her picture on match.com a year ago when I just did a search to see what was on match.com but wasn't fully signed up. You're trying to tell me she's been actively searching on match.com for a year but doesn't have time to contact a perfect mutual match? That makes no sense. I highly suspect it's a bogus profile. But mostly I think the women (whichever ones are real) on match.com are either lying about their profiles (so then a mutual match is meaningless) or they are as another guy said "serial daters".

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Match appears to routinely commit wire fraud. After subscribing for three months, I canceled partway through the three-month period, knowing that I wouldn't get a refund. But what do they do at the end of the three-month period? Automatically renewed it without my permission, and when I complained, they said, "you didn't cancel it." Umm... yes I did. No you didn't. Yes you did. Eventually the CSR hung up on me. What the hell kind of business model is that? "Fuck you, we already have your money, the customer is always WRONG." Avoid them. For me, it was marginally effective and the place is stale.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I have been on Match since January. I joined for the six month membership bargain. Definitely not a bargain. I consider myself attractive and bright. I am a high school math teacher. When I did meet a man and there was a connection between us, they ended up being dishonest. I have never met as many men that were inconsiderate and mean to another human being that never did anything bad to them. I think one of the qualifications for the men on here is they are crazy. They are definitely not serious about meeting someone for a long term relationship as they say they want in their profiles. I am disgusted and will not be renewing my membership.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I just signed up for match.com and I am tying to unsubscribe because the price on the screen was $12.95 and then when they displayed by credit card bill it was $77 with automatic renewall and no phone number even on a WHOIS search, just a Texas address whats up with these people??

Women use match.com as a vanity mirror and content to send to their girlfirends when they play with themselves at work. 3 in 10 are sincere for dates but are very picky and very fing confused due to all the emails and traffic they get..good bad and ugly. An attractive girl gets 4000 hits a month! Some of my better looking dates form match.hell tell me this like I care. Folks... notice that the expectations of attractive single people in America is out of kilter these days, girls stop blaming it all on the guys and get your head out of high school etiquite and start taking the same responsibility you throw on our laps and cut it in half and be fair. Here is a catch 22 in the male and female war on the web and in our society: If you are female, thin.. work out have nice hair and look good in jeans, make good money too, why can't you stop thinking you deserve a well off man to front the bill in a traditional manner that we really have no problem to do but at the same token you all changed that protocol to your current modus. You see the real reason why it is so hard on match is because people even guys don't bother to see compatibility but instead some trophy catch where what is in the soul of the person is also in accord to body measurements and financial statements. peopel today do not want to pull togther re in a relationship and if they are hot expect the wad of wealth in the safe to already be there at the entry point. Few people today between 25-55 want to invest in someone for love and compatibility and 3/4's of match.com members chant this as their mantra.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

To most women out their venting your feelings of we guys on match. Get to know reality we do the picking you all do the choosing. It is amazing from several gorgeous girls I went on dates on and had intimate encounters with the number of emails they say they get. Match does suck and here lots of men post 10 year old photos but at the same token it is a bad as the pretty "it" type chicks with their generic stories on what I a guy has to do for them....and in reality all they think they need to do is show up. they also write and bait you with pictures of their pets to be cute when in reality they all belong on a hollywood producers casting couch to really get what they really desire...fame and cash lots of both. Come on if you are attractive why can't you meet good mates in real life. Match has created an ill fated and faced precedent that will screw up the war call dating.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

90% of Girls are whores and atypical new millienium spinsters that will never marry. The more attractive they are the more money they cost. Isn't liek that with whores you hire. The better the face and bod the better the fun. I am 5-11" professional, handsome, train martial arts and have a kind heart. I had a run in with a profile auditor on it due to using this term..."please blow smoke elsewhere if you are the rebound, new to area.." and now I just suspended my profile and want my money back...they have no refund policy and are not ethical as most of the females that are worth anything...in the looks department are shallow, and not as sincere, have no respect for the male race that cherishes women, and seem like the type that lie about their income to hide golddigging. Online dating sucks and is for the desparate. I would rather have a LTR with an escort than spend the money on this waste of time making some fucking geek VC richer that runs the game at match.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

It seems like the same guys over and over again on match. I 3 different guys and it seemed they really enjoyed being a serial dater. They are desperate guys who otherwise would never approach a woman in real life so they email women online and make it a hobby to stay on match. Its a terrible way to meet people. My best advice is to get OUT and m meet REAL people. Its the best way. Match.com is a waste of money and time. I think the people who actually did have success on there are very rare. I would not depend soley on meeting someone through any online personal. The guys are weird, plane and simple. They have issues, why do you think they are on there?

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I signed up for the Match 3-day trail. What a nightmare. Yep, you guessed it, I got the auto-renewal billing after I had timely cancelled the service. Someone,...somewhere,....do something to these guys......No contact number, not date on forms to verify that you cancel, no real person to correct the issues. These guys are slick. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE,...not even to look! Larry. Waco, Texas

just read some complaints about match and all i can say is...i think its great!!!i have lots of success and for those that have posted that they don't ...well...maybe its YOU and not match...

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Unlike most of you, I actually did meet a promising woman through match. She's gorgeous, not fat, not psycho, has an MBA and a strong career, and is a wonder person. We've been dating for almost a year. My experience with the system though, overall matches what I've read here. Same people in "Your matches" over and over again, fake profiles, cookie-cutter responses, poor customer service, not receiving emails, etc. My new girl went on 4 or 5 dates from Match and wasn't really interested in any of them. She also got dozens and dozens of emails from guys, most of whom were 15-20 years older than her and with whom she had nothing in common. My complaint about match has to do with their customer service and billing. Despite cancelling my subscription twice, I continue to be billed $44.85 every 3 months. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau of Dallas and have tried to work it out through my bank. The bank contacted Match and told me that they received "no cooperation" from Match in resolving the dispute. I've received the same form leter twice from Match's customer service department while trying to get this sorted out. I'm out $100 now, and although my new girl is worth every penny, Match has continued to fradulently charge me and robotically send the same couple of form letters to me when I complain.

Set up: Woman lying to get a good man who is financially stable and use them. I caught it after getting involved but lost only a little and saved my life! What a nightmare! This "amazing" woman hid her cancer - agressive late stage - and pushed for marriage immediately from a very committed and well planned platform and acts that showed all the marks of what a "soul mate" would expect. The game was exceptionally well played! Be careful - conventional dating is the way to go and with a background check! Telephones and screens hide the real deal! BE VERY CAREFUL - AGENDAs ARE EVERYWHERE! from. saved at the 11th hour!

Match works fine in our area, unlike eHarmony which is a complete rip-off. The problem I have found with the men I have met is that they all seem to have been "abandoned victims of divorce" - after two hours of listening to their whining, I can see why ... there is a whole generation of incredibly boring, self-centered men - with horrendous difficulty in relating to any human being, whether in a store, or on a date ... this is not above "technique" or "moves" this is about basic sanity ... and I need not go on further about sobriety, (Social drinker = 5 or 6) or honesty. They lie about their height, their age, their fitness, their marital status ...almost always these men have no other social life, and expect to trap a woman to be their sole admiring companion, who will adore them and believe their view of the world. Sick.Match should sell large looking glasses (mirrors) for these guys to preen in.

Add one more to the long list of people who have been ripped off by Match.com and their automatic renewals, no refunds, fake profiles and rude customer despair department. I feel like an idiot. I cancelled the same day my subscription renewed and they refused to refund my money. Has anyone ever got their money back? So many single people, so many dreams yet to be fulfilled, so much profit to be made. What is your dream mate worth to you? You are but a click away from your dream mate, err credit card swipe. We find your perfect match. Match.com is a lucrative scam. The money spent on these rip off sites is better spent on events, activities and parties. My plan and recommendation is to get away from the computer screen. Get out and do things I enjoy. Meet similar people enjoying what I enjoy, face to face. You dont need to join a club, but some groups can be fun. Stay clear of Match.com!

They totally suck. If you are a nice girl in your 20s you will get 40 year old men. If you seek local you will get some wacko form Pakistan. The male to female ratio is like 5 to 1 on match.com- what is up with that?I should be getting mail every day, not once a month. They're supposed to be so global and connected to MSN and AOL BTW...are these men antisocial, not subscribers, fake or just damn lazy? weird!

I actually worked for Match.com for years and left because the top leaders were repeaping the benifits of the companies 250%+ growth in 2000 & 2001 at the expense of the employees. These jerks sit on their asses and sell their hundred of thousands of dollars worth of free stock while the employees can't get a 2% raise a year. And as far as their so-called 'matching' technology, it is a total scam. There are over 12 million actual users on MATCH, but you as a subscriber are never going to see more than about 200 of them, even if you actually had 1000's of matches, because of the way their system is coded for hashing thru the potential matches based on your profile info. Unless a subscriber is willing to 'update' their profile every 30 days, you will fall into a 'black hole' of outdated profiles, never to be seen by any other person on MATCH again. And the ones of you that suspect the site is full of married people, gold-diggers and prostitutes (male & female)trying to get to you thru MATCH, not only are you correct, but the corporate leaders of MATCH are well aware of this and choose to do nothing about it as to not interfere with the HUGH personal profits that they make via their free stock in the company. Any sane person that cares about how they spend their money should pick ANY OTHER dating site over MATCH. I personally know 2 women that have profiles on MATCH. One of them mentioned to me today that if she comes into the site as a male looking for a female and puts in her age and zip code, her profile does not come up. She also realized that although she had several 'winks' on the site, she has not been receiving the associated emails she should be getting base on those winks, so the site is obvisiouly lacking. This woman is also a former employee of MATCH so she knows how the system is supposed to work. A male friend of mine also had issues with MATCH's 'matching' emails he was receiving (as in when he actually looked at these women's profiles and the MATCH PERCENtalkmatchE to his profile the site gave for these women, it was laughable how far off they were). So he actually wrote to the company about it, as of six months later, he has not received a response because THEY JUST DON'T CARE. I do believe that it's just a matter of time before this corporations bogus practices will be their downfall. They are destined to be the next big corporate scandal headline.

At the beginning of September I signed up for what I believed to be a one month subscription for Match.com, an internet dating service. When my checking account was debited at the beginning of October, I checked with my bank and found Match.com had sent the debit through. When I contacted Match.com and requested a refund, I was told I had agreed to the ongoing charge and the charge would only stop when I "resigned my membership." If there is such an obligation in the agreement, it is not obvious nor is it made clear. I did resign my membership, effective October 9th, but as of today, October 24th, Match.com continues to refuse to credit my account. In addition to the ongoing charges, the matches were terrible. Match is a very sick website. That preys on men who have troubles picking up women and women who can't reconize good men. With the 5 men to 1 woman ratio, it's almost a waste of time for a man to suscribe. Most male users (past or present) I have talked to, had a ego shattering experience, including myself. Even worthy men with a good education have troubles. The reason educated men have trouble is, Match has become a haven for Gold-Diggers. I recommend, that guys find out how to attract women in the real world, instead of using online dating. Because, I did and had total success. After failing with online dating, I developed a winning strategy for picking up women. 1. Learn to comfortably talk to women with confidence. 2. Make friends with some of these women you come across. 3. Learn what to say to make a woman desire you. 4. Learn to deal with Rejection. The first thing I did was read 3 self-help books on how to seduce and meet women. I learned the tricks players use, to pick up desired women. Without becoming a player, myself. After 3 months of practicing talking to women in social settings, (clubs, stores, etc) I developed the knack to talk any woman. In that time, I made friends with a couple of these women. Then it happened, I met up with one of these new lady friends, when she was hanging out with a couple of her other girl-friends. The one girl I took interest in, is a 8.5 out of 10. She is grounded, responsible, clean, practical, and fun. I had no trouble getting to know her and finding out that we have alot in common (hobbies, views, etc). I was able to say and do the right things, to get her to feel that BUZZ, most women only dream of. For her, it has been a whirlwind romance. Now, I am proud to say that we have been together for 1 year and are committed. Fantasy fulfilled for the both of us. So, Thank You Match.com for the failure. It has shown me a new light and a great relationship. P.S. if all guys would do what I did. Match.com would go belly-up!

I joined match about a year ago, went on a lot of very nice first dates, but just recently things have changed with that site. People contact me all of the time, and we talk on the phone for a week or two, these people call me everyday, and want to meet, but when it comes to actually meeting, they are no were to be found, there is one excuse after another, and then they fall off of the face of the earth. It leaves me feeling like the whole site is a lie, I recently cancelled my subscription, and will not be renewing. Its a waste of money, and TIME. I believe that these people are Not really interested in meeting someone to date but rather to have "casual" relations with. So I would suggest to anyone who is interested in meeting a quality person to date and get to know, Match is NOT the place to do it, half of the people are married or in serious relationships and are basically looking for a side piece. Im a beautiful girl, and have had to defend my memebership to several friends, asking, "what are you doing on there" the truth is I work a lot, im sick of the bar scene, and thought that it would be a good idea, but turns out, id rather meet a real person in a smokey bar then on match any day.

If zero stars were possible I would post it. Match.com simply sucks. Even if you pay this company to send e-mails they 'hold the right' to edit out e-mail addresses if the receipient does not suscribe. Sounds like b/s to me. Go out and meet real people. I have tried match.com a few times over and, while some people may have success, 5 others don't meet anyone, just take a look around your sex and see how many of your fellow members are still on there. Meet women in Brazil? HAHA. They have mail in order bride websites for that kind of game. Or Hi5.com. If you have the capital and not much time to go out....then match.com is for you. Otherwise: BOYCOTT MATCH.COM.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

Here's my theory: Match.com is largely fake. It has to be to survive. Why? Because almost everyone is destined to have a negative experience with it. If a young, attractive girl posts her profile on match.com, she will be bombarded with responses from perverts and losers and she will quickly unsubscribe. If a dorky guy like me posts his profile on match.com, he will receive no responses at all and will quickly unsubscribe. To combat this, match.com must have fake responders, i.e. match.com employees who try to string subscribers along with the false hope of a date in order to keep them subscribing. Here's an example: This match.com woman has a profile indicating that she lives near me. She claims to be an animal lover. I sent her an e-mail with a lot of specifics about people and places where she lives and told her that I lost my dog in my divorce. Note the distinct "form letter" feel of this response. (Note how "she" apparently thinks I said my dog died when, in fact, I said I lost it in the divorce): "Hey, I got your email but I have been pretty busy or I would have returned one by now. Sorry for the loss of your dog. I know how it feels. I just lost my 16 year old cat on Thanksgiving morning. I had had him since birth. It is very difficult to lose a pet that you've had for that long. But the good thing is that he died in my arms here at home and I was able to bury him. So much for a decent Thanksgiving. I had to work that night anyway. So it was basically bad all the way around. But hey, things happen. I really can't chat yet. My computer is pretty old, but I can email till the cows come home. I am having a great time emailing everyone I have 'met' at match.com. Thanks for the email and the wink. I just wanted to return your email. You can email me back if you'd like. Hope to hear from you. Bye" You gotta love the line: "I am having a great time emailing everyone I have 'met' at match.com." Can it be any clearer that this response was from a match.com employee?? I have had numerous other responses which are very similar.

hi- match dot coms days are probably numbered, as they are with most of the other big dating services, on and off the internet. what will eventually happen is that the FTC will become involved after they receive enough complaints about people, mostly guys, getting burned by the system. once guys realize that the odds are horribly stacked against them, and, as the previous poster observes, favor the house like a las vegas style gambling establishment or ponzi / pyramid scheme, match dot com and others will find themselves falling under some of the same regulatory statutes & scrutiny as lottery companies, four liner owner operators and casinos, all of whom have to make public their actual odds of winning to patrons. and while match dot com cannot reliably quantify such outcomes as the number of emails it takes to get a successful date, ie one that ends up with a second date, or how many dates it will take to wind up with a successful romance, it can be required to make public the number of mens profiles and the number of womens profiles, and allow potential patrons to make their own judgment as to whether signing up or continuing to throw money in a hole is a good idea. again, industry wide regulation is coming, and it will happen at a federal level, because all of these sites involve interstate commerce and a level of potential fraud that would call for FBI & FTC involvement. i actually called match dot coms corporate headquarters and they just *laughed* at the idea of providing greater disclosure as a gesture of good faith in their product. that alone should be warning enough to both guys and girls out there who are lost in the lousy, mixed up world of 21st century dating, where the real villains are more apt to be unscrupulous match makers rather than hoards predatory men or deceptive women on the take. and in case anybody wants the info, here is the number for the Federal Trade Commission:18883821222 and match.com corporate headquarters:214-576-9352 in case this helps with anybody out there. oh and yes, if the idea that you have been defrauded in some way or that match or some other dating service has violated an implied claim through lack of disclosure rings true with you, go to Google and look up the Internet Fraud Complaint Center. they have an online complaint form you can use, and are run by the FBI and the FTC jointly. best of luck to everybody, and if you think youve been cheated, you probably have, so do something about it! regards, ABS in Texas. PS *stay positive* about love, its out there, ya just gotta try, and get away from that computor folks!

Match.com is a complete and utter waste of money. As stated in many of the previous posts, the women on there are all after the same man. Tall, dark hair, handsome, funny, and most important: RICH. I have proved this theory by making up total bogus profiles and the women go for the criteria I just mentioned. Hell, with the "dream guy" profile they will write you. I havent sent one single wink or email and gets tons of responses. Therefore I plan on standing up and wasting as many of these gold-diggers time as I possibly can. And match has the nerve to jack the prices up? I have met many girlfriends in "real-life", and used match b/c of being new in town. Never again, please do yourself a favor and dont give the jackasses your money. Get the hell away from the computer and find a "real" woman so these bastards will go out of business.

The odds are stacked against you. Half the ads are fake (Match.com-generated, mafia, unsavory doorways to sex scams, etc.). So 50% chance at finding a partner. Half of the remaining ads are pranksters who aren't serious. So 25% chance at finding a partner. Half of the serious ads are outdated. So 12.5% chance at finding a partner. Half of the serious, current ads are within your age range. So 6.25% chance at finding a partner. Half of the serious, current, age-relevant ads are functional members of society. So 3.125% chance at finding a partner. And because the world is demon-possessed, there is 0% chance at finding anything resembling a relationship in this hell!

Enough is enough, I have been a member of Match.com for over a year, with little success. The reason I am leaving Match.com is, there are too may FAKE and Illiterate guys on this site. The biggest problem with Match.com is the high number of married men trolling the site. After sorting through all the emails I have received, I figured that 22% of my emails are from guys who are probably married. (Although, one guy did come out and say he is looking for a extramarital affair because, his wife is disabled.) Match.com probably knows, married men are a problem but won't do anything about it. Why?, because banning married men would cut into a large chunk of their profits. A court could find that Match.com is deceiving customers by not doing anything about this problem. Maybe, it's time to write the FTC on this matter. I can't understand why older men are sending emails? Are they looking for a trophy wife? I set my age range to 33yo (I'm 26). Yet, 32% of the emails I received were from guy's that are >35yo. I don't know how many emails I received that said "Age is just a number." My biggest frustration comes from, guys not taking the time to read about what kind of guy I'm looking for. The reason I signed up for Match.com is, I am attractive and educated but I am 5'-10" tall. Needless to say, I have a strict height requirement. I am only comfortable with a guy who is at least my height, I can't explain why. The first guy I met, stated in his profile he is 5'-11" tall, when we met he was 5"-8". Is it customary for guys to lie about their height? The good thing about Match.com is, they are always improving the site. Match.com is more user friendly now, than when I first signed up. I was really happy when they canned their IM system. I do miss the personality test. Have you read their new "Happen magazine"?.......LOL. I have never seen publication, in where the writers have such a huge EGO. Yeah, my car is better than yours. The preppy attitude is the straw that broke my back. In the end, I found 3 good guys on Match.com. They were all decent guys but they weren't as interesting as they were online. Using Match.com to meet anyone is just way too slow and painful. Considering that you just about have to run all guys through a screening process. I'll try eHarmony for a couple months but still, there is no replacement for meeting men in real life.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I think the last poster is right- If youre mad, call the FTC, they handle this kind of three card monte fraud crap all the time. A couple of posts ago some guy left a couple of phone numbers, one for the Federal Trade Commission:18883821222 and the other for Match Corporate:214-576-9352. When I called I argued that Match ought to have to show how many mens profiles there are vs. womens profiles, so you can see what your BEST odds are on a given day. Match just laughed, but the FTC listened! The match system preys on men mostly, just like strip joints, bars & pornography. If you thought it was bad on the outside, you better not come in here. God what a trap, jeeeze I would guess the system is about 90% men, most of whom, unfortunately, are good guys but complete suckers with broken hearts & pockets waiting to be [further] emptied. If youre mad, which you *ought* to be, then raise hell about it, and make some phone calls. Wont somebody PLEEEEEZE kick Match.coms BUTT in court for defrauding them & misrepresenting the odds? eat your heart out, match.com, ha ha ha ha :-)~~~~ losers

This another one of those scam dating site you should avoid like the plague. Unless of course you like meeting psccho bitches, fat pigs, and but ugly slobs. Thats all you seem to get responses from. Oh, yes there are some truely beautiful bitches on here, and thats a mild description of these gold digging sluts. Unless you make a six figure income and look like a super model, forget it. This site is just another example of how truely sick and twisted the modern single woman is,to much Oprah, Sally Jesse, Reality TV. Notice how many are divorced with kids from 1,2,3 dads. Gee, do you want to raise some poor bastard illagitimate kids because the whore you meet can keep her legs closed, you might even be unfortunate enough to give her another one, so she can get more child suport. STAY AWAY FROM INTERNET BITCHES. Do yourself a favor and start doing research on foreign women and you will be shocked at the difference, they are polite, educated, intelligent, sofisticate, and beautiful, with no mental and emotional problems like our sick local pigs have. I have lost all respect for single american woman, as far as I'm cocerned they no longer exsist. Stick with a foreign woman and make yourself truely happy.

I'd give MATCH.COM a (-)100 if that was possible. Just for kicks I sent in my profile and COULDN'T BELIEVE how many responses I got! I'm an average looking female and put together a very 'typical' profile - almost bland. My brother (a decent looking guy to start with), put together a really great, thoughtful profile that should have gotten a ton of responses (it was reviewed by all my friends - that aready have boyfriends)... but after he wrote almost FIFTY emails he got TWO responses - one from a mother of three (6 years older than him) and the other was a prositute. LEAVE MATCH.COM for the real world - better yet move to Europe, where (most) people are not so shallow.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

With Match.com there really isn't a free ride for anyone. The free profile is nothing more than a showcase, for their service. Since they have eliminated their I.M. system and block email addresses, there aren't too many ways to get in contact with anyone. Even, if the lady puts the words "I don't have a subscription" in her profile, men either ignore it or can't find the right way to send their email address. Match.com is constantly improving their email address blocking system. What worked last week may not work this week. Most women aren't going to take out the time, to find the ways that manipulate Match.com's system. As far as free deals for women go, the only free deals you may see is, buy 1 month get 1 free. Is this really free? "No". I have not seen any free deals for ladies on any personals website, in years. I want to touch on the, "men not reading the profile" subject. As you know, men outnumber the women on this type of personals site. A paying male member will become frustrated with the service, due to a lack of responses. A lot of men will just write a email, save the file to their hard drive, then just cut and paste it to any pretty face they see. In hopes that they get lucky. From a customer service standpoint, Match.com should probably come up with a email filtering system.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

I whole heartedly agree with a lot of these posts... Match.com is a joke and a scam at best.. Let me put it too you this way, im one of those "hot guys" (aka. tall, dark, handsome, 29 years old) that a lot of the average guys complain about .. Over the period of a few years ive met probally about 150 females in person from off the internet.. Mainly from AOL but a few from matchmaker and a couple of other websites and places on the internet.. Like a lot of guys when i saw how many women were on match and how hot a lot of them were, i thought it would be too easy... Boy was i completely wrong...After paying my money for a Month subscription, i probally sent out 200 emails over a months time.. my repsonse rate? probally about 1 out of 15 emails that i sent.. Now heres the shocker: How many actual dates? ZERO.. I couldnt fking believe it.. I was so used to very easily meeting women elsewhere on the internet.. I had a few email communications with a few women but they just faded after a few days or emails.. Not one would give me there number.. The funniest email communication i had was when i let this one woman know that i lived very near her and the next email i got back she says shes backpacking through Europe right now for the next month and a half.. My response: "I hope you get eaten by a bear" lol.. Then what really pissed me off was about 4 months or so had passed and i just happened to be glancing over my credit card bill and i noticed match had billed it the past month.. Weird i thought, why would they just now be billing me when i had signed up 4 months earlier.. So i called match to inquire about this and sure enough, they had been autorenewing my subscription every month for 4 months and charging without my knowledge... WHAT AN ABSOLUTE FARCE.. So to all the dudes out there dont feel bad or like a reject if you have absolutely no luck on match.. Im an experienced internet dater with good pics and i didnt even have no luck on there.. Theres plenty of other places on the internet like myspace.com, webdate.com that are completely free or try AOL as it is much more user friendly and much more personable.. Be careful with Aol though as i have met some sea donkeys on there In summary, match sucks and i wouldnt recommend it to my worst enemy.. They probally wont go away for a while as there will always be middle aged average guys who are sucked in to paying for it.. But match will not work for 99% of people as 99% of women will never pay for the service and will never be able to respond.. Maybe when the greedy ass people at match allow two way communication will the service be anything worth while..

Understand that if there were a "0 Star" option, that would have been my pic. If you a woman considering using Match, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I happen to be one of the tall, thin, blonde, athletic, don't-have-trouble-getting-asked-out-at-bars types, but thought I'd try e-dating as a way of meeting men who were more my age, as opposed to the much younger guys I'd meet in the "real world." Discovered bizarre phenomenon: would spend one or two fascinating weeks flashing charismatic, sparking, witty emails- sometimes two or three a day- with potential "dates," they'd beg for my number, I'd send it, thinking the next step would be a call and an actual date... and I'd never hear from them again. In four months, I had one real date. (He looked something like his picture, was two inches shorter than me, and accused ME of lying about MY height.) Seems there's all these guys out there with little post-its with phone numbers they've never called on their refridgerator, like its some sort of e-dating trophy case. Yeah...somehow in the male mind, they've won, since they quit first. ER? Point? At first, I thought this pattern an aberration, but it happened over and over and over. Match seems to allow men to satisfy their "urge to hunt" by convincing themselves that they're really out there trying...but not really. If they had the guts enough to really date, they'd be out in the real world asking a real woman out. Forget it. It's the lazy man's inflatable doll equivalent

Match_Consumer_Complaints

After reading alot of the reviews on Match.com, regarding a few exchanged e-mails with women of interests and then they abruptly vanish, what I'm about to reveal is supported here. I recently ended my 4 month subscription to match.com. I noticed a trend, the women that I had a lot in common and found to be extremely attractive, never responded to my winks or e-mails. The few e-mails that I did receive, were from women of which I had no attraction to. I found this to be extremely fustrating and strange, since I am an attractive guy and many women consider me a catch. I came to the conclusion that most of the attractive women on match.com are so few and most of the attractive women do not need online dating to get a date. One day I discovered something that really appeared to be fraudulent. Two months earlier I was attracted to a very attractive woman and decided to send a wink and no she never responded. I tried to find her profile two weeks later and it vanished...I thought maybe she had hiddened her profile and thought no more of it. Last week I was doing a national search and came across the same picture of the woman that I had found so attractive...only this time, the profile accompanying the picture had a different name, different description, and was located in a different state. Someone had made a mistake. I have theory about some of the most attractive women on match.com. Match.com has a number of model or fictuous profiles of attractive women and men, designed to attract potentially new members and getting them to join match.com. This would explain the few exchange of e-mails, but never getting to an actual date and the profile tends to vanish at some point. One of the women that I had sent two e-mails to finally responded to my second e-mail once I had indicated that she would not hear from me again unless I hear from her. She finally responded, indicating that she would like to get to know me better and I thought we had finally made a connection. Then weeks would go by and I'd send another e-mail or two, and she would not respond. Does this sound familiar? Only when I told her that she had probably received my final e-mail and that I was resigning my membership, did she respond. I suspect that I've been exchanging e-mails with someone that works for match.com and not the person that I thought. I also noticed that the profile of this fictuous person lives in Community, VA, which does not exist in the state of Virginia. I asked this person in my last e-mail where Community, VA is and two weeks later she hasn't responded. I'm not saying that all the attractive profiles are fictuous, just enough to attract and get new members to pay/subscribe to contact an attractive and near model-like profile of fictuous people. This would explain why the dates never materialize and the person that responds to the e-mails know that they cannot go on the date, revealing match.com's secret. What a scam.

Match_Consumer_Complaints

With the male to female ratio being what it is I only respond to women that I get a wink from or return my winks. I believe the majority of women habitating these services are recently dumped and suffering low self-esteem so they post a pic and a half-baked profile and all of a sudden they're the center of "frat boy" attention. The major reoccuring red flag I look out for is the "I deserve to have my butt kissed". Do these women honestly think a "mature" man is not going to spot this drivel? Guys, if you don't have an airbrushed GQ mug you might as well forget it because the majority of women on these sites are not going to look at your profile let alone strike up a conversation. To sum it up I would say this site is littered with people who are not completely healed from previous "bad experiences" but yet crave attention where they can anonymously filter the frequency of adoration. BORING!
